I think I have got AS or something on the spectrum. The problem is in my mind i feel normal but sometimes feedback i get from people makes me wonder if i behave VERY ecentricly and weirdly without me realising it? I don't really belive that because i do have normal friends who are NT and not on the spectrum and i go to the pub sometimes and get drunk. mind u my friends have not really been bothering with me much in the last few months.

That said tonight i was quiet and my farther said to me "Its strange too see you so quiet because your usually very loud" that comment he made kind of sparked this negative self doubt because i remember at college i met one very STRANGE guy who had AS and he was described as loud and noisy by others. I will admit i do have a weird gait which has been commented on by a few people but i only walk on tip toes and look awkward because i am insecure because of my height of 5ft10.

I had an argument with my 18 year old brother once and he said "god you are so badly autistic" and he also said "you have such bad aspergers". Its also made comments like i am "weird" amongst other things. really though it can really crush you when you get feedback like that but my brother is known to be quite spiteful. I don't know if my brother is just saying those things to wind me up? he also said once "you have 0 social skills!"

its shocking really because i think i am a normal but maybe on the outside that is not the case? I do find it tough sometimes to connect with 'normal' people and they can baffle at times to be honest.

i am 21 by the way.

You can't expect people on a forum to be able to diagnose you. Would it be possible for you to get an evaluation from a specialist?

Aspie or not, I think many people see their own "normals" as normal ... so one of the challenges of life is to learn about different kinds of "normal" and to try to sort things out a bit while watching to see what it actually typical ... and that is where people can begin understanding each other a little better and interacting in acceptable ways. For example: It can be normal for anyone to be loud for a moment when something is exciting, and then it is typical for people to remind each other to be quiet after the excitement has subsided. Being paranoid is normal for some people, but it is not typical for people to just always remain silent as a way to be considerate of others.

Does that make any sense?!
