for the most part, my teachers were enablers. They either took the "boys will be boys" attitude, or told me to "ignore them and they will get bored" --thats the biggest lie ive ever been told, when i ignore them they just try harder.
I must give credit to my fourth grade teacher, she first suggested that i have aspergers, this was back in 1996, when hardly anyone had heard of it, especially in a small city in maine.
I even got detention in eighth grade, even though i was the victim, i was considered "part of the disruption". My 8th teacher was so old school, i got detention for getting up during class to sharpen my pencil without asking permission, i got another one for smart-assing when i told her i didnt understand what the problem was.
Then freshman year, i had a special ed teacher who flat out told me and my mother- there is no such thing as aspergers, hes just looking for attention. I ended up repeating ninth grade because he graded me one point below passing for the year.
