Sometimes I hear a noise and I mistake it for a voice. My name is Kai, rhymes with pie, so if someone says hi I think they said my name or if I hear a window creaking I sometimes get that confused with my name. 0.o

Yes, I hear voices and sometimes music in white noise. It's like your brain wants to make randomness into a recognizable pattern.

I remember one time when I was 4, I was upstairs in my house and I heard some sort of demonic hissing noise and I was scared like crazy. I also sometimes hear voices in white noise.

Voices, music, even what sounds like radio broadcasts. I also occasionally hear my name when no one has said it. It last happened yesterday in a grocery store.

Sort of similarly, I sometimes see images in random patterns. Like my monitor has some dust/whatever on it, and I occasionally see it as something (reminder: wipe that off). I used to get mesmerized by my curtains when I was in my early teens because I'd see things (pictures, objects, once an entire scene) in it. Like the image would be there and then dissolve and I could see how the pattern matched the image.

The exact same thing happens to me I thought I was the only one.

as an experiment, you may want to try watching an unoccupied tv channel, you may see faces in the snow as well. a bit spooky, though.

Ok, I'll do that, since I have nothing better to do with my time, but I have done that before and I always end up seeing patterns in the static.

i only mentioned it because i watched a movie called "white noise" which was about Electronic Voice Phenomenon, IOW hearing spirit voices in white noise, or seeing spirit faces in video snow. there are actually people who investigate such paranormal things.

Well, you are the second person today who's told me this happens to them. So that's three at least!

to me, a lot of words sound similar especially with my name and sometimes I get confused when someone says something and I couldn't understand what they said.

I sort of have this, but more that I slur what I hear and make noises and voices out of anything. I’m almost always asking “what?” whenever people talk to me because I tend to hear things all as one word, or rather, I focus on the sound and tone changes in their voice so I hear what they say like a piece of music for example. But on the other hand, if I hear a sound I’ll mistake it for a voice (I almost always hear my mom calling my name when I’m listening to music, even though I don’t live with her) or other sounds that have no pattern in them, I’ll try to make something out of it. The worst is when a random sound turns into a musical note and then gets a song stuck in my head for hours.

I experienced a short period of time, years ago, when I would hear my name and I, too, hear music in "white" noise.

I also have a sort of hissing/ringing. I'm pretty sure it's always there because I can hear it whenever I want but I never thought it was anything bad. I find it kind of comforting. It only now occurs to me that I've never heard music in that particular "white" noise, which is interesting. Listening now, I can perceive a harmony of many different "notes" but it's just a constant, continuous sound. I used to think it was like one constant note, but upon further examination, I believe it would be more accurate to call it a "Chord"...yep, I'd call it a chord. Currently, B...I think...or maybe F. Hmm...interesting.
