Does anyone know of any reputable research or article about how AS and gender identity disorder may have a link. I know of Simon Baron-Cohens work.
There is alot of talk about gender confusion on WP, but not alot of info that I can find anywhere else. Any ideas much appreciated?

there is a very interesting book by Gunilla Gerland about autism and sexuality, but unfortunatly i think it's only avalable in swedish. In the book in is mentioned that transexuallity, general gender-bender personalities and even intersexuality(being partially male and female biologically, what used to be called hermaphroditism) seems to be more common in aspies than in the general population.
When it comes to gender confusion, i believe that NTs are the one who are gender confused. It's the NT world that make rules for who you can be and what you can do based on what's between your legs.

Gender identity disorder isn't a matter of confusion as far as I can tell. Transgender people tend to be pretty certain about their gender and not confused at all, hence going through hell to transition. Confusion rarely leads to decisiveness.

The book sounds great. I never could understand gender identity or roles being based on a piece of flesh you have or don't between the legs. It is also interesting to think how much socialization and reinforcement it takes to keep people firmly entrenched in these roles.

Exactly.
