Supposedly Aspies are disturbed and distressed by overloads of sensory input, but I crave it.

My brain is constantly churning. I always want new experiences and sensations. Seeing new sights, trying new food, hearing new sounds... my life's goal is to always be on the move. Whenever I am not being stimulated with a flood of new input I get bored. Routine drives me batty.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Sensory Processing Disorder is not solely sensory defensiveness ('disturbed' and 'distressed' by stimuli).

I know what you mean.

I'm uber awkward, but I crave social overload.
I get distracted easily, but I enjoy sensory overload.

On the Jung Briggs personalty test, I fit the "adventurer",
essentially meaning that I enjoy novel experiences,
and will go to great lengths to obtain high standards of entertainment. (paraphrasing)

I think these things appeal to me the same way
that disgust appeals to the horror fan,
or audible dissonance appeals to the death metal fan,
or even food-acidity to a salsa-lover:
It's balancing a mildly unpleasant stimulus in moderation to
achieve a sweet-spot.

Not to much, not too little.
