Personally this is a major problem for me. I lose my cell phone for weeks on end, can't find ID cards to go places and sometimes lose my wallet. Luckily I almost always find them again, but this is a major stresser for me. I tried to put my important things in a specific location, but I just forget and get distracted sometimes.

I used to have this problem. I can remember useless strings of information or numbers but forget where I've left my keys, so I devised a simple system of attaching everything to my purse which is too large to get really lost for long.

I tried remembering to put everything down in the same place, but like you I would forget to do that if there was something more important on my mind, and there usually was.

If you don't want to carry a purse, you could simply attach keys, wallet, cellphone, etc. to your belt or pants.

You know I have tried this once. It's just when I attached everything to everything else, it was really bulky and awkward to carry around.

hi, after having been in the same situation, so far so good I've done this: I put in my jeans a "mini wallet", I put in there only the most most Most essential stuff, like an ID card, a bank card, drivers license and that's it, and maybe some money. I put it not in the back of my jeans, but in a front pocket, so it is always with me, ALWAYS. I also put a pen (always handy), and my cellphone (a very little one). After finishing using them, they go back to the pocket. In a few days it'll come second nature :)
I used to have this huuuuge wallet, filled with every paper I could think of. !I even sometimes had difficulty trying to close it!! ! Anyway, it was so bothersome that I started to left it at home :P

what other methods have you tried?

I used to lose little things all the time. Now I check for them obsessively everywhere I go. I put things like my wallet, keys, my phone into the same place in the same pocket each and every time. As a result, it makes it very easy to check if it's there or not. This system worked so well, I haven't lost a single item since the age of 19.

After having lost my wallet once and having gone through the trouble of replacing everything in it, I never lose my important stuff.

Though I'm always losing my lighters, then finding them again after buying new ones.

Always. I often carry around small objects in my hand, and I will set them down randomly, only to pick up something else nearby...

Well yes I also lose things like keys. I've recently lost my keys to a foot locker where I store my writing stuff in. I've locked it. I usually put that key in a safe place. Well I forgetten where I had put it. Yeah I lose things.
