Research Study on Autism and the Media

Hello,

My name is Ellen Eckert and I am currently conducting research for my dissertation to complete my PhD in sociology at the University of Pittsburgh. I am studying portrayals and representation of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the entertainment media.

Part of my research is conducting interview with individuals who have been diagnosed with ASD. These interviews are not only intended to further my research project but also to provide an opportunity to those affected by ASD to voice their opinions about how the media are handling autism.

My study is approved by the Institutional Review Board at my university and consent forms will be provided before the interview would take place. The privacy of participants will be ensured at all times.
