So, today at work, I was rehearsing in my head something that I was going to say to someone as I was walking down the hall, and I started speaking the first sentence aloud. Luckily no one else was around, because it wasn't just like muttering, it was actually in a normal tone as if I were speaking to someone else. Does anyone else have experience with this? This hasn't ever happened to me before...it was so involuntary... :?

I have often spoken aloud because of excessive thinking about conversations, voluntarily and involuntarily.

Yeah people think I'm talking to them, mostly on busy days.

Same here. It's worse when I am very stressed out, but I normally do talk to myself quite a lot.

I used to speak my internal conversations. But after having many people get confused and think I was talking to them and then having them join in my own conversation. i finally managed to keep the conversations to myself. they still happen all the time but not audibly

I do just every now and then, but quietly, as in a near whisper. Usually if I'm reacting to something. And I'm alone when I do this.

But if you try to rehearse something that you plan to say to someone, it's likely not going to come out that way. Rather, it'll be a little morphed and maybe a bit long and you might get interrupted before your point gets completely made.

Yeah, I will often speak what I am thinking under my breath though only when I am alone (as far as I know). Especially common if I am seriously concerntrating on something or need to because of a lot of distractions.

Oh yes :)
It is not very social acceptable to do, and I don´t think I do it with other people around

ya, i do it, when i was a kid it was said that your crazy if you talk out loud and my mom tried to break me of it, to no avail. now i do it most when i talk in my head and for what ever reason i get stuck on a word or phrase and i repeat it out loud, like i'm trying to re-boot something?

When I walk down the corridor I tend to whisper, but sometimes I forget the volume and people look at me funny or they can see my lips move. Especially when I sit at the desk, my lips are moving... My dad always asked my mom what is wrong with me because I talk to my self a lot :D

Of course, and sometimes people see/hear me and you can imagine their looks.

I rehearse conversations a lot in my head, and sometimes do so out loud .. but that is usually voluntary.

However, when I'm very stressed the internal conversations my brain & I have can become externalised and that is definitely not voluntary. Like when I was in the hospital yesterday and ended up saying rather loudly "Just leave it in there you f*cking idiot". The nurse who was passing my room at the time gave me a really dirty look and said "pardon?". I had been trying to convince brain not to make me pull the drip out of my hand again ...
