Yeah so I pretty much have no self control, if I get a feeling to do something it's very hard to resist. Likewise it's damn hard to force myself to do things that I must do. *sigh*

Anyone know tricks to overcome this? I imagine this'd be a fairly common situation. :-(

While I can't think of any tips I can relate. :-) I'd explain my behavior like a waterfall it "flows" no rocks or anything to stop it. I tend to just behave. This has lead to issues in the past which is sad but I question what to do. Analyze everything I say/do so as not to mess up!! I was told in grade school think before you act but never did I just retaliated against bullies. I kind of wish I had friends/Boyfriend just to have someone to keep me in line tell me if what I say/do is wrong. Oh well. Also I hate cleaning but I make it fun by running around the house with my Ipod on. :-) So I make it something fun. :-)

Self control and will power are not my strong suit. If I need to do something that I don't want to do, I break the job into the smallest possible parts, and then I will do one part, then take a break. I will do another part, then take a break. It's not a very efficient way to work, but I can usually finish the job.

I don't have any good tricks to keep from doing what I want to do. The only thing that I can do is to focus on the next minute, and just set up the goal not to do it for one minute. It sometimes helps, but I often fail.

Yeah, I don't have any self-control either.

I have this exact same problem. The moment I know I have a big project that needs to be finished, or anything at all that needs to be done, I suddenly find I am much more interested in doing everything I can possibly think of /but/ that thing.

This is the reason I spent five years in college and walked out with a degree in Japanese along with three other minors, one of which could have been a degree if I had only completed a Senior Culminating Project.

My willpower is nonexistent, unfortunately.

Hey the fact you got a degree in Japanese means you have more self discipline than me!

Also zeldapsychology I understand what you mean by free-flowing behavior, that's definitely me. It's like, I just do stuff, but don't really know if it was a good idea until after it's done. Then I'm like gee, shouldn't have done that eh.
