I listened to these guys on Imus in the Morning a few months back.

They were telling Don that autism wasn't described until the '40s because it simply didn't exist (or was so "vanishingly" rare that no one ever noticed it) before then.

So what's the verdict? Are they merely ignorant morons, or slime-ball opportunists? In other words, do they really believe that, or are they just trying to move some books?

I'm tending toward the former. I think they're simply highly ignorant/uninformed regarding the nature of medical terminology.

Are they the ones that wrote the book about autism mercury and vaccines?

I only know what existed in the 40's because of stories that I've been told.

They can't be that stupid, so I think they're just exploitative scumbags.

The other day, I was reading some ridiculous claims that the pertussis vaccine created autism in the 30s or 40s, that it totally did not exist before that.

Strange how Dr. Asperger actually talked about some of his patients' ancestors, who apparently had traits long before then.
