I think because i am not a part of a collective or social group i can see how the world functions perfectly well without me and the fact that i don't really matter so much. That's really humbling don't you think? Not so much being a unique snowflake as being one flake in millions which falls and then melts away very quickly. Know what i mean? Or am i just rambling?

I do know what you mean, but be sure not to let this slip into "well, gosh, I just don't matter at all, to anyone" and other negative thoughts. By and large, the world will continue on, but that doesn't mean that you haven't made a mark at all.

I see things in a different way. I'm not humbled. I feel a sense of peace and maybe some pride as well. :)

It is a bit humbling, but that's okay. It just means that you can live your life, without worrying about someone else's expectations. It means that it really does not matter if you don't achieve that goal that everybody else says you should achieve. If you don't have the happy family with the picket fence and 2.5 children, it doesn't matter. It means that you can just live your life, and just do what makes you happy.

I felt like that before. But then I realize that when other people contribute.. they usually screw things over. I take it upon myself to leave an impact. No matter the impact. I can make people think differently, possibly think better.

Maybe try looking back on all the good things you've ever done, whether for yourself or others. Try it - I bet you wont be able to remember them all! :-) If you're not fundamentally an evil person, then you should probably give yourself a break sometimes... There are plenty of people in those collective groups who don't consider themselves particularly essential either, y'know? You could be thinking on a much wider scale than necessary... I know that if I think about the grand scheme of things too much, I get extremely down and lean towards panic attacks and all sorts of crazy fears developing, so maybe it's just too much for any one being to try and process... just my ponderings anyway!

That's quite a bit more profound than i was expecting from a user called CoalBogey to be honest.

I don't think the nature of being outcasted itself is humbling or empowering. It depends on how you react to it. It's best to not go to the extreme of either thinking we're inferior or superior. AS has strengths and weaknesses, and it's easy to be a douche if you think the weaknesses don't count and it's easy to think we're inferior if you think the strengths don't count.

Asperger's is what you make it for yourself. I make it a positive experience for myself, by enjoying the things that I like and choosing to be as happy as I can. :)

It's humbling thinking about the universe and how long it takes for events to happen.

Has the world earned your trust? If it has, you may value it's opinion.

Embarassing moments from missed social cues have a way of holding egotism at bay.
