Did you have difficulty listening to teachers lecture when you were in high school or college?

From reading the discussion forums, I feel that many people expressed difficulty with understanding NT conversations. Did this same difficulty result in problems when listening lessons at school? Did you experience less problems with understanding math and science lessons?

As a related question, how did you motivate yourself to complete homework assignments?

Remember the Charlie Brown cartoon specials? Remember the sound of the teacher talking?

I was very undisciplined about homework.

I had a hard time following lectures in school. I had an easier time following books and movies.

I remember Charlie Brown and the teacher. I could I forget the teacher. My teachers seemed mad at me during much of early elementary school. I could never understand anything they said. I spent plenty of time in the office.

It really depends on the teacher. I find higher math really difficult to understand. This year the math wasn't that hard and the teacher was good so it was OK.

Thank you for your responses.

I get the vague feeling that listening to lectures in school is not any more or less difficult for persons with autism than NT people.

Maybe a matter of degree.

I had trouble listening and taking notes. If I took notes I couldn't focus as well on the content. I would be more of a transcriber than a listener.

I suspect that there are some on the spectrum that CAN'T listen to lectures effectively. This would be rare among NTs.

Wavefreak, I always enjoy your posts. In addition, you seem like a very cool guy. You might want to consider posting some biographical information about yourself. It could be inspirational to many persons such as myself.

In my NT opinion, you are very cool.

You like to surf and make excellent contemporary art. You are intelligent and have a great sense of humor.

Do you own a motorcycle?

I had a motorcycle many years ago. I suspect my wife would disown me if I tried to bring one home. (Pleeeese ... it followed me home ...)

I'm terrible at telling "my story". I don't find it interesting and if something doesn't interest me I just can't say much about it.
