This is part of a larger issue of what researchers call "mindblindness", which is related to studies in the area of "theory of mind". If you are interested I recommend that you read the actual articles and abstracts, as reviews are usually biased. You want to know what the authors actually have said about it, which sometimes can be quite different from a paper review.

IMO, that's completely different.


I occasionally do have trouble identifying people I know immediately, but it certianly isn't true faceblindness.


Not that some people here don't have it, but what the majority here has trouble reading is the actual expressions, rather than the identity.
