I went to a new psychologist this week, who has been dealing with asperger's the last 35 years. She felt after talking to both me on the 1st appointment, and now my partner on the 2nd appointment that I do most definitely have asperger's. Mild, but definitely there. So I consider this an official diagnosis - she is going to write up a report and everything.
I feel "right" about this, and now I can start to adjust my Life to make things less stressful on me and the people around me, which I feel is good news. I have spent my whole Life fighting against who I am and constantly trying to "fix" myself. Now I can accept myself.
She said that people with Asperger's are not "bad people" they just have a much narrower comfort zone than other's, and that if their comfort zone is stretched then they find it very difficult to handle. This certainly makes sense to me.

Thanks for listening.

hi analyser,

though i wonder if it makes any sense to get a official diagnosis for myself, i am happy to hear that you feel better with your diagnosis.

best wishes,
Anton

I think that people with AS are very good at adapting to situations. It is just that the world that they live in is just so ill suited to them, that they are forced to stretch themselves to the breaking point in order to fit in. It is a testament to their flexibility that they are able to fit in at all.

Why? Did she have to try out her jigsaw? Was the blade dull? :) Couldn't resist!

Hmm. Equally 'couldn't resist', I've edited my post for precision.

Thanks for your support everyone :)

And yes, it certainly is the missing piece to my jigsaw puzzle ;) he he

It is certainly a relief to know that people around me can hopefully take it/me more seriously now and mostly for myself to have a greater understanding of who I am - finally!!
