Reading books and watching movies

It makes sense that aspies wouldn't like to read and watch movies because of our social situation. I don't like reading stories and I have seen about 25 or so movies in the movie theatre in my 26.98 years of life.

As for reading, If I had to pick and choose, I would go with non-fiction anyday. Some fiction I like though

as for movies, I've gone to the theater even less than you have. The following are movies I've seen in theaters.

I, in general, don't like movie theaters. Too crowded for my comfort.

I find if i go on week days or night not friday or Saturday it's not too many ppl i even have been the only person in the place. as for not liking films i do you can see emotes on screen. i have rated 170 films at imdb.com and seen more than that. i try to learn some about emoting from watching films. good SF books i like too

I love reading but dislike movies. Movies on the big screen tend to overload my senses. I'd read the whole day if my eyes could take it. I don't see what reading has to do with any social situation; it's one of the most enriching non-social activities available.

I enjoy reading, but I read very little fiction, recently none at all. If I feel like reading something light, it will be Scientific American.

I do not enjoy going to the movies, because they are too loud and flashy, and make me dizzy. On average, I don't think that I exceed the 1.0 movie/year ratio. However this year I went to the movies 3 times already. (Wow! Imagine average NT reading this! ) And twice on my own accord - I wanted to see "Passion" and "Fahrenheit 9/11". The former was worth the suffering, the latter was not.

I read all the time, although fewer novels lately. I pretty much just read stuff like Anne Rice in the lines of fiction, and textbooks the rest of the time.

As for the movies, my NT boyfriend loves them, so I go to humour him. I generally curl up in my seat and bury my head (esp. my face) into him so I can't see or hear as much.

It's like school dances, which I also go to to humour him. They're to loud and flashy and I generally end up going up on the counter in the cafetorium and staying there until it's over. I don't recover from dances or movies for days!

I liked movies when I was younger. Around age 20 I started an interest/obsession with audio equipment. I spent many thousands of dollars on home theatre equipment. Then I went out and rented some movies. Found out that I no longer liked movies. However, I would like to recommend that anyone that has not already seen the film "Baraka" needs to do so. It is probably not at the video store, you can find it searching google with "MPI Homevideo Baraka." As for reading fiction, only if the fiction flirts with being autobiographical or testimony. If an author wants to make an argument and tell me 10,000 reasons why they think that, then I can read it. Sometimes an experience needs to be bent a little (fictionized) to be readable. I figure that there have beeen billions of people that lived before me and some of them were considerate enough to have written down there experiences. Rather than repeat all the same mistakes that the people before me made, I get to start where they left off. I like allegory and don't really consider it to be fiction. As for Betsy and her lovers and what happens in romance land, I could care less.

I am not talking about the actually sitting down reading a book. I am referring to the social situations that occur in non-fiction books.

In a way, I can see the reverse being true... that is because of poor social skills, reading non-fiction books can be helpful, but for me interacting with people online and reference books are more enjoyable than reading a story.

The books I like are all non-fiction and I just purchased Bill Clinton's autobiography 'My Life' just last week. I saw Spiderman 2 at the movies recently and although I liked the movie very much I prefer to watch movies on DVD, as I find the movie theatre too loud and dazzling, and I usually have a headache at the end of the movie. No, I try not to go to the movies that often because it upsets my senses quite a lot.

Personnally, I like reading. I like both fiction and non-fiction though the fiction books that I like are really realistic and with facts.

I like watching movies but I do not really like going to the theater (once a year), for several reasons :
1. I can not concentrate during the total length of the movie.
2. I can not stand people's reactions around me.
3. The sound is always too loud.
I prefer watching DVD's.

I enjoy the Austin Powers series and I also lile the classics like My Fair Lady and A Hard Day's Night. I only go to the theater when an Austin Powers flick comes out, otherwise I buy my movies on DVD.

im not too keen on the cinema, too hot and sweaty, uncomfortable seats and noisy people. the films are played too loud aswell.
i went to the imax once and it was so loud i had to cover my ears, strange thing was it didnt effect anyone else

I dont like reading in general except for non-fiction books. Like my geography, world history, and environmental science class books . I can sit through the whole class reading through chapters, but I usually wont becuase of fear of being teased. I live in an environment where being smart is stupid, uncool, and makes you white .

I like learning things, documentery movies, and Fantasy books are better than movies though, I agree with some of the comments about the smell of Popcorn "Yuck" it stinks and you can't go into a cinema without the russtle russle of popcorn annoying throughout the film, If I get popcorn at a movie I usually try and finish it before the movie because the russtle drives me nuts during the movie.

I really enjoy watching movies, but do not enjoy reading fiction as much. I am a big fan of Harry Potter, however. My favorite movie would definitely have to be Lost in Translation, which has a very deep and emotional plot and is also quite humorous at times. I will go see anything that looks interesting to me, no matter what category of movie it is. One of my favorite things to do is predict how well movies will be rated by critics and which ones will win awards, such as the Academy Awards.

I like reading, it is just watching movies wastes my time.
