Here is the film's website: http://www.lovinglamppostsmovie.com . It was made by Todd Drezner whose four-year-old autistic son caresses all the lampposts in a park. Drezner visits two opposing sides in the autism debate: the recovery movement who believe that autism can be cured, and the neurodiversity movement. The film also features autistic adults. There is a trailer of the film on the website. From what I have read the film has a positive view about autistic people and is well worth seeing.

I visited this film's website about two or three years ago and totally forgot about it. I assumed it would never be released. It is wonderful to discover that it has been released after all and that it has already been screened in various film festivals. I look forward to watching it.

There is another nice new documentary about autistics. It is called "Neurotypical" -
http://www.neuro-typical.com/
It documents the lives of three autistics, at least one of whom is active within the Autistic Self Advocacy Network.

Truly profound words, been thinking about them all day.

I want to see that documentary! :D

The title reminds me of when I was 5 and I was obsessed with street lights and I used to dream that I had a set of little street lights that I could move around on a magnetic board, that lit up in the dark.

Those are exceptionally nice lamp posts. It doesn't seem unusual to me for a kid to want to touch those big round smooth lampposts, hang off them by one hand and walk around, swing off them.
We just have crappy ugly concrete or galv steel lampposts here. My own four your old Autie likes to look at street sign posts, they give him uncontrollable giggles, mainly cos I shake them so they start wobbling maniacally :D

Actually I wonder if the dad had ever thought about how nice those lampposts are, transfixed against the blue sky?
