I actually have PDD-NOS but got diagnosed with AS because it was the closest match for a diagnoses. I don't know why I got put in that category. My mom said it was to get me through school and it was for my education and to get the help I needed. But my psychiatrist wrote I have an autism spectrum disorder so I don't think it matters what label I have. I have noticed I am not alone in this.
I wasn't diagnosed with AS, but I tell people I have AS because I find that it's easier to explain than PDD-NOS.
The psychiatrist wrote HFA on the sheet because where I live, people with AS or PDD-NOS can't get many services. (such as help in school)
