I am a bit socially anxious when interacting with my peers or younger children, however, I am not when talking to adults. (Except when talking to the members of my favourite band and that's because I'm star-struck, but I am getting better with it, I go to a lot of their concerts and often hang out after and see them, and they like talking to me, my dad teases me for being star-struck)

However, I get nervous when talking to peers. I know that people with AS often prefer people outside their own age group, especially teenagers, but actually feel only 20% autistic with adults and 75% autistic with peers.

Do you know what I mean?

Yes, I do.

When I was in my teens almost everyone I socialized with regularly was an adult, whereas I only had a very few people my age that I tried to talk to. I had perhaps two actual friends in high school.

Yeah, I know! I don't have any friends that are my age, all my friends are adults, but I do have acquaintances that are my age.

Hey OP you are right, I only just noticed that. I don't feel autistic when talking to old people, and they don't seem to notice either, maybe they have learned, like me, to take what conversations they can. There is certainly no looking over my shoulder then.
