Chewed all mine off three days ago. So... yes! At least it's not constant anymore. If they get to a certain length, they just have to go. I try to clip but... old habits die hard.

Yes :(

I used to bite them REALLY bad, to the point of them all being bloody all the time, I stopped biting them about five years ago by just being VERY good at caring for them (manicures, clear polish that didn't look like polish but was nice enough that I didn't wanna spoil it)...however never managed a full set yet as I still chew a bit on cuticles and sides of nails so then the nails get damaged and break.

The more stressed I am - e.g. the past three years of unemployment - the more I bite them...only have 3 nails with white bits right now.

Yea.... I'm really bad about it.... not to the point that they bleed, but they definitely hurt when I accidentally bite too low.

Doesn't bother me, though mom doesn't like it much... though she has backed off lately

Yes. My cuticles too. (I usually have scars on the sides of my fingers next to my nails. Most of them have healed right now.)

i have not used nail clippers in years, for nails anyway. Hang nails and any sort of anomalous skin around nails must also be torn off. Which ironically leads to more irregular skin formations that must be substantially removed, often resulting in bloodshed. I realize there is no reason behind it, but my compulsion to keep these matters in check is sort of overwhelming, and i dont think its really that detrimental. Except occasionally i cause embarrassing wounds i must conceal from people. Dermatophagia its called. Non_Passerine reminded me of cuticles. they dont grow back on my thumbs and index fingers, their presence is minimal on the other digits as well.

I've been biting my nails since I was about 18 months old, and I'm just so used to having really short nails now that there is just no point in trying to grow them. I don't want long nails anyway - I like keeping them much shorter than my fingertips. I can play the piano better with short fingernails, and also they don't get caught on any clothes or anything.

Biting my nails doesn't always mean I'm nervous. I bite them when I'm bored most of the time.

I can't stand the feeling of having no nails. It makes my fingertips feel extraordinarily sensitive. I did pick on the skin on the sides of them until they were bloody for a while though. Then I went through puberty and switched to pulling out the hair on my chin.

This is what I did, although I stopped at 18 rather than 22, and I find that nail polish makes my fingers feel strangely confined so I don't wear it all the time. It's not as bad as it used to be, though.

I just got tired of it and started letting my nails grow. I haven't really been into chewing them ever since.

I used to bite my nails, but I broke the habit.

Yes. I bite my fingenails all the time. They are low, they bleed, they hurt, etc.. I have been doing it all my life and I am almost 42 now. I have no intentions of stopping. I sort of like the sensation.

I bit my nails a little bit when I was very young, but never bit them since then. I keep my nails trimmed short, and don't like when they get too long. One of my routines is to cut them every other week Saturday night. I don't like the look of bitten and chewed up nails. I do like fake nails on women though, I find that attractive.
