I'm really curious why some people like surfing or skiing (snow).

Isn't it kind of cold, and wet, and noisy with the waves, birds, music, people, etc. How come there isn't any sensory issues?

A coworker once told me, that a friend of his had a kid with Autism, whom could live under water as the kid had a sixth sense for swimming and diving even though no one showed him how!

I like skiing. My only sensory issues are with touch a little a bit (not very severe and nothing that skiing involves) and food textures.

Everyone's sensory issues are different and some don't have sensory issues at all, or at least not very severe ones.

Maybe your coworkers friend with autism doesn't have sensory issues around water. I don't. I have even heard that same autistic people are fascinated by water. I really liked it when I was little.

I, personally actually have more issues with heat than cold. It can get pretty hot where I am from in the summer (Like 86 degrees Fahrenheit, which is about 30 degrees Celsius). I typically don't like temperatures over 25 degrees Celsius, which would be 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

I don't participate in any sport besides skiing and I would really, really love to learn how to surf. Can't explain why I like skiing, but I think I'd like surfing because I love wavy water, I like how it makes you bounce :D

Surfing.

The sensory thing is part of it. Sort of like a stim. It isn't noisy in the same way as a room full of people.

It's the limited sensory input, right?

I think I'd like skiing. It would make me feel free. You know how Harry Potter feels free when he is flying on his broom?
Sometimes the adrenalin rush is enough to relieve the stress especially if they feel 'trapped' in their current living situation.

Sort of. Water and wind sounds tend to merge into a white noise sort of thing, but with variations in intensity and structure. It also blots out the noise of people, cars, airplanes, etc.

I think there is still a lot of sensory input, but it is a form I find soothing.
