[The title is referring to the last post of mine, as of 7:36 A.M. April 13, where I'm trying to recruit neurotypical people on other forums to take the asperger tests in order to make the asperger prediction calculator accurate. I need help finding the best forums to advertise and I need help with the "recruitment letter".]

Hello, I'm a person who really likes numbers and statistics. I was wanting to correlate all the possible scores that people earn on various tests across the internet, but there's a problem: It's scattered all across the forums! Wouldn't that be cool if there was a list of test names and their respective scores in someone's profile, so that the data could be easily gleaned?

I know it's not 'obviously needed' by any chance, but I thought I'd voice a wannabe data researcher's dream. If any significant correlations are found, then a formula could be constructed that could predict someone's probability of having aspergers or some other form of autism just by taking into account their scores. To be most accurate, this wondrous formula would control for 'obvious variables', like gender and age (Though age isn't commonly divulged.) and the obvious imbalance in the "number of autistics / number of neurotypicals" ratio and other self-selection affects (Maybe...I still have to think that through).

(I'll probably just write a program to parse the various 'threads' that contain scores on various tests if I really want to obtain that data. Don't know if I'll do that, though, given the amount of effort.)

Not a bad idea. I'm not sure parsing the forums would give you good data. Maybe set up a shared doc on Google? Maybe you could get an admin to sticky it.

you could make a "post your test scores!" thread... and have links to various quizzes at the beginning, too.

Great idea! I think I'll do that.

So, now before starting the "Post your scores!" thread, I'd like to gather the "highly important" quizzes so that the earliest posters don't miss out on the "highly important" quizzes. So, what does everyone think would or could be a good test?

Here's my list so far:

Facial recognition - http://glennrowe.net/BaronCohen/Faces/EyesTest.aspx

Raven's progressive matrices / Nonverbal IQ test - http://iqtest.dk/main.swf (If anyone knows of a more accurate nonverbal IQ test, please share. Since this one is normed on the online test takers, that lowers the score compared to a professional nonverbal IQ test as online test takers are smarter than average.)

Anyone know any good verbal IQ tests? Vocabulary tests work since there's a high correlation between vocabulary and verbal IQ.

AQ test - http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html

The "Aspie"/"Neurotypical" test - <I'll find the link later>

Facial memory test - http://www.faceblind.org/facetests/fgcf ... _intro.php

Any more are welcome!

I think that's a pretty good list so far, though you may get jumped on for including any sort of test with "IQ" in the name.
If I had more time, I'd definitely want to do something similar. Maybe I could help out a bit here and there if you would like.

there is a thread called Set of scientific tests related to Autism Spectrum Disorders at the top of the general forum. About 100 people have posted their scores on a set of 8 diagnostic tests.

as for the tests you list here, all but the Raven's progressive matrices are included in that set.

I think he might want something a bit more organized.

Thanks for the Ravens test - not seen that one before.

I have kept all my results for the other tests and would happily post them up for you - great idea

The aspie quiz has been added.

Anyway, from the official test thread, there's a lot of data from those who have or likely have aspergers and not a lot of "neurotypicals". I've created a "test thread post" for targeting other forums that likely have a lot of neurotypical individuals, but now I need to find those other forums! Does anyone have any ideas?

So far I've targeted the "Social Anxiety" forums at http://www.socialanxietysupport.com/forum/f26/, but the post has to be approved by a moderator. Hmmmphh.. Next time, I'll register, make 10 posts and then wait a couple of days, and THEN post.

Anyway know any other good ones? Better ones would probably be those where neurotypicals think there's something "mentally wrong" with them, such as anxiety, shyness, mental illnesses or something along those lines so they will probably be more curious if they have aspergers, though any popular forums filled with neurotypicals would probably work, too.

Okay, I could use some help. I'm trying to create the prediction calculator at http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt157848.html, but I'm running into a problem - there isn't a lot of nuerotypical people taking the tests, which makes calibrating it rather difficult.

Does anyone know of any place to put a message advertising that post on the forums? I've tried Love and Relationships because NTs are really into that; I've also tried "The Haven" because I'd imagine there's a lot of depressed individuals who have SAD and maybe not aspergers who come to wrong planet because they feel they are on the "wrong planet" for other reasons; I've also tried "Parents" because I suspect that many of the parents and/or siblings who go there aren't autistic themselves.

Also, I'm looking at recruiting people to take the tests on other forums on the web. The ideal "average forum person" would be unemployed, has a lot of spare time, lonely and ... other things.

So far, I've targeted the "Social Anxiety Forum" with the following letter (But it has to be approved by a moderator and I don't think it will be.):

Quote:
Hello, the purpose of this thread is to gather score information from various online tests and use that to create an 'aspergers prediction formula' that would calculate the probability that someone has aspergers (Instead of something more benign like Social Anxious Disorder). I plan on hosting this "aspergers probability calculator" on my web server as a contribution to the community. With this formula, many people who come in thinking they are simply socially anxious could find out very well they might have aspergers! This calculator I'm making would be more accurate than the current 'aspie' and 'AQ' test because this formula would take into account many different tests, instead of just one or two, which would give you a far more understandable score (A percentage rather than a not-so-clear AQ number.).

Please let me know your
-Age
-Your highest level of education
-Gender

So that I can control these variables in making the prediction formula, so that the calculator can make more accurate predictions.

Here are the list of the core tests that seem like they would be most associated with aspergers (If you just want to take one or two tests, please take the AQ test or ASPIE / Neurotypical test as those are most likely the best predictive of having aspergers):

Facial recognition - http://glennrowe.net/BaronCohen/Faces/EyesTest.aspx

Raven's progressive matrices / Nonverbal IQ test - http://iqtest.dk/main.swf

Verbal IQ test - http://psychologytoday.tests.psychtests ... gTest=1331

Aspergers test (Follows the DSM manual quite closely) - http://slshealth.com/behavioral_info/se ... p?CatID=58

AQ test - http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html

The "Aspie"/"Neurotypical" test - http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php

Facial memory test - http://www.faceblind.org/facetests/fgcf ... _intro.php

And here are miscellaneous tests that seem like they wouldn't be highly correlated with aspergers, but possibly could be, depending on what the results and statistical analysis shows! If they are highly correlated with possessing aspergers, then I'll add them to the "core tests" list.

Highly sensitive person test - http://www.hsperson.com/pages/test.htm

The Systemizer / Empathizer test - http://eqsq.com/eq-sq-tests/

Emotional Intelligence test - http://www.queendom.com/tests/access_pa ... gTest=1121

MBTI personality test - http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

If anyone knows of a better way to word that post's text so that it doesn't scare anyone off, that'd be great. Also, if anyone knows how to best emphasize "If you don't have the time for all 7 core tests, taking the AQ test or the Aspie / Neurotypical test would be appreciated.", I'm taking suggestions.

I am NT and would be happy to take the tests. Just let me know which ones to take and I will take them.

It would really help if you took the "AQ test" and the "Aspie / Neurotypical" test at http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt157848.html. Also, feel free to take any of the other tests -- it all helps out. :D
