I noticed in some research a correlation between adrenal gland issues and ASD. Anyone here being treated for adrenal issues? And if so what with?

There are some who suffer from low cortisol but not low enough to be diagnosed with Addison's. People are calling it "Adrenal Fatigue", but I don't think it's yet recognized as a medical condition.

To answer you, OP---I am diagnosed AS and in the recent past I was being treated for Addison's Disease (first Adrenal Fatigue). My doctors have since decided that I DON'T have Addison's, but I still get my cortisol levels checked. They have just hit the number to be considered normal, but they are on the low, LOW end of normal.

Logically, there is NO relation. As for Addisons?

Quote:
Symptoms
•Changes in blood pressure or heart rate

•Chronic diarrhea

•Darkening of the skin - patchy skin color

•Unnaturally dark color in some places

•Paleness

•Extreme weakness

•Fatigue

•Loss of appetite

•Mouth lesions on the inside of a cheek (buccal mucosa)

•Nausea and vomiting

•Salt craving

•Slow, sluggish movement

•Unintentional weight loss

HOW does that sound like autism?

^the OP didn't say it has similar symptoms as Autism; there's just been a correlation between low cortisol levels and ASDs found.

Correlation is not relation. Correlation is two separate things being found together on a more than random basis with no mention of causality. I just happened to be looking into adrenal gland issues and noticed that in many places ASD folk were also being treated for adrenal issues and/or showed low adrenal values

A while back, I talked about a possible relation to low adrenaline levels. The reason I asked about this is because domestic foxes develop differently from their wild counterparts in much the same way that autistics develop differently than neurotypicals. This is believed to be because of adrenaline levels, but domestic foxes also have low cortisol levels.
