But thats only sometimes and then theres time that i do hand movements and rocking to music holding on to objects (i got things up about my stimming you can look into it) But im not sure if i am because yes i do things they do i have a lack of eye contacked a lack of soshel skills. and its hard for me to know when to say something to people sometimes. Hell there is alot wrong with me but okay if im autistic then tell me something wouldnt it be lower? no affence but wouldnt i not get jokes at all?! and not understand half of what is said? wouldnt i not beable to exsplane somethings like i do now? i dont understand if im autistic! then how the heck can i do this?
Its like i dont want to walk around and say oh i got autism. when all my life it went to you have PDD NOS and then it goes to You have HFA. to anxiety and miner retardastion? WHAT THE HELL man! honestly no i cant go to the doctors why because i dont got the things to go and my mom will streess out. so all i can do is ask for opinyens and help myself understand avreything the doctors are getting to. i dont understand this! how is that me?

No offense to you but for starters your spelling is a bit behind.
I have high functioning autism too. You can have average to above average intelligence in high functioning autism.
It is really similar to Asperger's with a few exceptions. There is usually a verbal delay in HFA, less social awareness (less anxiety and more social clumsiness - saying things and not realising it is inappropriate and not being bothered by it), more vocabulary problems and more self help skill delays (or a sufficient amount). That's just a generalisation though.
Personally I think the doctor gave you the diagnoses based on your childhood symptoms or because you may have more pronounced symptoms than most people with Asperger's syndrome.

The reason why I am HFA is because I took a while to speak/walk/ reach basic milestones. Then I didn't have much interest in people and cared only about my interests. I stim quite regularly, don't know what to say to people and get overloaded by even small groups of people - my other sensory issues are severe too. When I was younger I wasn't terribly bright either but I have since caught up to the knowledge of my peers, even surpassed many of them. I tend to shutdown quite regularly when under stress too. Oh and there's the daily meltdowns that usually involve overreacting to some form of change.

There's a reason why it's called high functioning. The idea you probably have of an autistic person is one that can't speak, needs to be dressed and have most of their need taken care of and have a low IQ. That is a form that get labelled low functioning or moderate functioning. Many people here have dramas with such labels though I think they help to distinguish between the very different types of people on the spectrum.

Even people who can't speak and need help with their daily needs can still be really intelligent. It could come down to basic sensory issues.

My son is only 7.

He's HFA and very social. He wants to be social and friends are really important to him. But he doesn't understand how to be social in an effective way. And he is language delayed. Very delayed.

In some ways he is brilliant and in other ways his understanding of things is quite ret*d compared to peers.

He's awesome.

Temple Grandin is doing extremely well for herself and she is HFA, too!

Aspergers is autism too by the way, without the language delay/impairment.
