When I first joined WP, just over 2 years ago, I scored 120 on the Aspie-Quiz. In fact, I mentioned this in my very first WP post.

Last year I scored 58.

Just tested myself now, and scored 46/200 and 168/200 NT. (In fact, I think I'm even less than this in practice, as some of the questions were about past experience, not what I'm like today).

These are my overall results:

I know there's a lot of scepticism about ASD improving on WP, but I promise you these test results reflect exactly the way I feel. I have made a dramatic improvement over the past couple of years, and I believe the capacity for Aspies to improve is a massively underestimated phenomenon.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about my answers on this test, or anything else, however personal. I want to help you if I can. :)

outside of memorizing the answers to the quiz, what did you do to get better :-)

I'm going to assume that's a friendly joke.

I don't know exactly how I got better. I have thought about this quite a bit, though, and here's my best theory (but I could be wrong):

During my thirties (I'm now 44) I was lost and confused. Every now and then, however, there was the odd sign that something was happening. A couple of years ago I fell into a dream career opportunity (I was finally given the chance to do something with a childhood talent). To take advantage of this I was forced to be more mature and social than ever before. Somehow, I was able to pull it off (though it was very challenging and exhausting). I think that I had been improving (very) slowly over my thirties, before reaching a tipping point at around 40-42, and the career opportunity pushed me over the line, if that makes sense. Once I'd crossed the line I improved rapidly.

I think this is one of the problems with ASD. Being immature, etc., we're denied access to key life building opportunities. This prevents us from maturing, and, therefore, we're denied further opportunities, creating a vicious circle.

absolutely it was intended as a joke, sincere apologies if it came across any other way. (although i hope you would agree its a funny way to get better in the test :-) ).

congrats on making things work.. thats pretty interesting what you say about needing to get momentum in order to gain access to the bigger opportunities and chances for real growth
