Like many people I'd like a list to take with me to my AS assessment just in case it's needed - with such variation in assessments and my tendency to go blank when questions are asked, it'd be helpful to have a list of traits to highlight why I am seeking diagnosis for AS.

I've seen a few lists, but equally I've seen a few critiques of lists - traits that are/aren't part of AS.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a comprehensive and reliable list of AS traits?

Thank you :) x

Thank you for your reply Laz, but I've already seen this page, and it isn't what I'm asking for.

Other than what you have already found there probably isn't much, those lists are guidelines and not just hard and fast rules. No person will be able to tick off all of them and say yep obviosly AS and people with AS may not experience certain traits at all. You will just have to trust that who ever is testing you knows what they are doing. If you are worried that you might forget something just mention that you might blank to who ever is doing your assessment. It is there job to accurately guage whether or not you are on the spectrum. If they say you are not and you don't agree ask them to explain why they came to that conclusion. Going in with a list and saying "I stim compulsively, people think I am rude, I speak in a monotone" is in and of itself not the only factors involved because non AS people may have those traits. Just trust the system but make sure they explain every step of the process

What's interesting about those symptoms is the 4 group differences. My approximate scores:

1. Cognitive Characteristics of Asperger’s Syndrome: 30/38
2. Social Characteristics of Asperger’s Syndrome: 26/36
3. Work Characteristics of Asperger’s Syndrome: 25/27
4. Physical Manifestation of Asperger’s Syndrome: 9/22

Total : ~90/123 = 73% (I have ~70% of the symptoms listed)

My count may be off by 1-2 but it seems that work characteristics of AS (25/27) is my biggest problem which probably explains my long-term difficulties in dealing with most types of work. My physical manifestations are hardly a factor except for the anxiety and sensory issues.

I don't think any specific list will be helpful All lists are in fact just guidelines. You can explain situations or things that happen in your life, even better if you can bring a parent that can remember what childhood was like.

You probably already have a number of things thought out already. If you get a doctor that has experience with AS then they should be able to ask useful questions, which is probably as beneficial as providing the doctor a list to get started with. Remember AS and ASD's are a spectrum and that everyone is different so no list can be 100% accurate.
