Okay, we’ve done Hitler (who Nostradamus allegedly called anti-Christ), so I guess it’s time for us to look at his counterpart. So, what do you think - did Jesus have autism?

First of all Jesus lived before psychology was invented. Second, all we have are selected tales based on third and fourth hand stories, so the Jesus of the Gospels might have no resemblance to the "real" Jesus assuming he existed at all.

Bottom line: we have no first hand information on this Jesus person.

I know it's meant to be funny, but I find that article a tad on the offensive side. It seems to ridicule autism rather than engage in genuine satire; it also misrepresents many incidents in the Bible. I'm not a big proponent of Christianity, but if they're gonna use it as a backdrop for pseudo-academic comedy, at least keep your facts straight, or paint with a broad brush and be honest about it (ala Life of Brian).

To address the question: I don't see it. He spent all his time pursuing crowds of people and social interactions, and worst - TOUCHING strangers. At least I wear latex gloves when I do that. :eew:

Although, they're right about one thing. he did have a knack for pissing off people in authority by challenging the status-quo and not backing down. :eye:

Hard question!

I would say probably...yes. (It doesn't mean anything else than that, nothing bad or even special)

But, as

Long ago I read a book that suggested the Buddha had Asperger's. Perhaps we should start identifying historically important individuals who weren't on the spectrum. That would go more quickly, it seems.

Just out of curiosity, if Jesus is part of the Trinity and the Son of Man, how could he have a neurological disorder/condition?

through Mary. Once he had to incarnate into a body only Mary was pure enough. Obviously Mary was one of us.

Jesus:
He claimed he had visions of the Devil after fasting for 40 days in the desert
He believe he heard voices as the Devil spoke to him and said "make bread out of stone"
He had delusions of grandure about being the son of God
He believe he was blessed with supernatural powers to cure blindness and walk on water.
He believed he was the king of the Jews
He had a wide circle of followers and friends as he led and absure Sect of Judiasm.

So I do not believe he had aspergers because he had such a wide circle of friends and good leadership skills. If anything he was somewhat of a party animal frequently being the center of attention in countless wine banquets but his history is highly indicative of schizophrenia. If fact I believe if such a man did exist he probably would have been a schizophrenic.

Good points, ruveyn and sinsboldly, but for the sake of argument, I’m assuming that he was a historic person and that the gospel describes him well. (Unlikely since neither was written while he was actually alive, if he lived at all.)
BTW, I saw a documentary on National Geographic that argued that he might have been a historical person, or at the very least that he may be a composed mix of several historic persons. It seems that there were several people at about the right time who did ‘wonders’ and opposed the authorities. He could be the people's memory of these, assembled later into one person. Some see Mithras and Greek myths as a possible source of inspiration for the myth of the son of God, as well.

No Jesus did not have aspergers he was schizophrenic

These could simply be hallucinations as a result of fasting in the hot desert for 40 days. Or even some sort of tactical move to show his followers that he was pure.

Came here to post that.

Some say he never existed. I think he did. He was probably a charismatic leader with good people skills. Sort of like David Koresh or Jim Jones or Charlie Manson. What he had to say appealed to people at the time I guess. I highly doubt an AS person could have anyone following them. ;)

Romans killed him so his followers broke into his tomb and dug him up after 3 days and probably reburied him. And then they went on to manfacture great many stories about him, which survive to this day. So yeah we have only a very superficial idea of what he was really like.

There is nothing in the gospels to suggest that Jesus was autistic.
