This probably belongs in another section but this is the most-read section and I really need help.

Maybe this could stay here under the auspices of it being me, who is clueless about navigating this kind of stuff due to Asperger's, asking for help from people whose special interest is bus routes? :hmph:

I need to know how to get to Manchester Airport to Lincoln on a weekday cheaply. 8 am or onwards I can leave the airport. Train fare is 34 pounds but I wondered if I could do it more cheaply on busues. I don't care if it takes 6 hours if it saves me significant money.

Here's what I've come up with so far:

Walk
Bus 199
Bus TP
Bus 90
Bus Y019
Bus 31
Walk
10:41am - 6:14pm

But I can't find a site that tells anything about what the fares are for these buses or anything!

Thanks for reading, sorry this is probably in the wrong section!

Don't know about those individual buses, but if you were willing to do it with National Express coaches, you can do it for around £20.

OK, so working with the list you provided:

Bus 199 = Trent Barton Skyline 199: Manchester Airport to Buxton, no fare information on website (www.trentbarton.co.uk/skyline) - call on 01773 712265 or email [email protected]

Bus TP = Trent Barton Transpeak: Buxton to Nottingham, no fare information on website (www.trentbarton.co.uk/transpeak) - - call on 01773 712265 or email [email protected]

Bus 90 = Service 90 'Fosseway Flyer' operated by Marshalls Coaches: Nottingham to Newark, no fare information on website (www.marshallscoaches.co.uk) - call on 01636 821138 or email [email protected]

Got stuck with Bus Y019 & Bus 31

But there are two options for Newark to Lincoln:

1. Stagecoach Bus Route 46: (www.stagecoachbus.com) Only fares on website are for day or weekly tickets, not single fares. call 0845 605 0 605 or email [email protected]

or

2. KJB Route 47: (www.kjblincoln.co.uk/KJB_Lincoln/Service.html), no fare information on website call on 01522 696222 or email [email protected]

Timetables for all the buses are on their individual websites.

My special interest is not bus routes. But I do love figuring out transport routes for myself and others when I or they want to get somewhere, and saving money is always good!

Hi YellowBanana! Thank you so so much for all that information! I will look into all that further now! It is so overwhelming I just don't know what's what and you made that 100x easier. I'm glad you like helping others in this sort of way even if it isn't your special interest!

That number 90, Nottingham to Newark is £4 single. (Or it was a month ago!) That's my bus!

Just as a point, if you are making this journey, there's no bus station in Newark- buses drop you off all over while thay are rebuilding it, so you'll need to know exactly where the buses drop you off and pick up.

The National Express site has £20.10 single, with one change in Birmingham, but leaving Manchester Airport at 1.30pm.

Thank you! All of this is great information. I'm deciding between taking the National Express bus (cause going on past history I WILL get lost and miss buses if I have to make a bunch of transfers, esp given scenarios like for kt24's bus) and just taking the train. The more I think about it the less I want to wait forever and ride forever even if the price is way better. Money'll decide that though.

Anyway, thank you very very much, Keeno, kt24, and YellowBanana! You really are good at figuring this stuff out! :D
