Hello people.

Some time in the next month or two, I am going to do a sponsored walk, the whole 177 miles making up Offa's Dyke Path. I aim to raise £10,000 for the National Autistic Society.

For the benefit of those not familiar with the UK's national trails, the ODP follows Offa's Dyke, an earthwork created by king Offa in the 8th century which divides England and Wales. The following map shows the approximate route of the footpath:

Please visit the project's page to find out more, and please support the project in any way you can.

The National Autistic Society is rich enough.
I suggest you raise £10,000 for Autscape and/or for the Autistic Rights Movement UK.
Autscape: http://www.autscape.org/ (An autistic conference in the UK, run by autistics).
Autistic Rights Movement UK: http://www.autisticrightsmovementuk.org/ (The first UK national organisation run entirely by autistics)

Essentially all the money will be going to help the same cause, right? So why should it matter which society you choose to raise money for?

Anyway, good luck with your journey, I hope you manage to achieve your targets with both the sponsorship money and the challenge itself.

Enjoy yourself too!

I now have a setting off date, 23 of July!

Also I have set up a Just Giving page for the project: http://www.justgiving.com/177-miles-for-autism Donations made through that site go directly to the charity, hopefully this will help offset the decidedly uninspiring response of zero donations so far.

@KenG True, however there size also gives them the media leverage needed to give this any chance of succeeding. So far I have had absolutely no luck with contacting media outlets myself, and this needs to be widely known to stand any chance of succeeding.

@rabbitears, Thanks, I will:)

I would like to make a donation, but I'm not very trustworthy with making transactions online. Is there any way I could get more details about the 'justgiving' site and maybe some sort of confirmation that it's all legitimate?

The NAS themselves suggested that I used it?
