How does autism screening work for adults? I am not talking about the actual assessment, but just screening. I know how they do it with toddlers, but how would it work with adults?

I am bumping this in the hopes that someone new will see it tonight and have an answer for me.

I don't want all the details; I'll find out soon enough. I am just curious how it differs from screening in children. I've heard somewhere that they basically use the AQ test to screen, but I don't know if that is accurate. Has anyone been through the screening process prior to assessment? Even when I went to my interview in January, I did not have a screening at that clinic.

I haven't heard of adults being screened before either...

Has anyone gotten screened say, 18 years or older?

Its harder to screen adults, almost all of the screening tests which have been supported by clinical studies are aimed at young toddlers. Questions such as "does he copy facial expressions from you?" "Can he look when you point at things?" Do not really apply to adults, unless they are positive

I am being screened for aspgergers at 21..

I have another apointment next week but first he just asked me questions related to aspergers related symptoms as they are in adults.
Like routines, interests, socializing, habits, stimming, speech, and clumsiness.

Asked me questions about childhood, though most people with aspergers have a good memory I do not either due to ADD, Blocking stuff out, or brain damage.

He asked for my moms phone number, and said he would call her and ask questions about my childhood.

From what he said though seems there isn't a lot of help for adults with aspergers and most professionals can't seem to figure out why I would like a diagnosis.

Part of my reasoning for wanting a diagnosis is because I don't want to be a fraud posting on here.

Though there are other reasons of course.
