Do you need any sort of Sensory input at night like minimal Light, Sound, etc. ?

With me I have to have Music or talk radio going and a light on to even be able to go to bed. The only talk radio I can get without static is over the web so I have to fight my internet connection to stay stable before I can even do Talk Radio to get to bed. Also I have to have some sort of light and with me I have a PC Case Lighting a Cold Cathode like to be on as a Night light.

The only time I don't need talk radio to get to bed is when I go out to The Dunes like Dumont Dunes because of the sounds of the engines from VW Beetle engines to V8 Engines but when it stops around 3-4AM when it is Dead silent I will wake up and have to get my Mp3 player or AM radio and tune in a LA station that I can get at Night KFI 640AM

Yes.

At various times I've used fans, white noise, talk radio, AOR radio, and television.

I need the fan on to sleep. But light doesn't really bother me, because I sleep with my eyes closed anyway.

A few times when I was like 6 years old or so I had a really hard time getting to sleep. This was before I started using the fan, so when my parents went to bed and the TV went off I could not bare the intense silence.

I need blankets - specifically over my shoulders and ears.
Which is unusual considering I hate clothing over these areas during the day and detest light touch.

I used to need the radio on up until my late teens, but prefer quiet now. Unfortunately I need pitch black to sleep now too - unfortunate given as I can't get that due to light outside and the fact my boyfriend prefers a bit of light to sleep.

The weight of several blankets definitely helps me sleep, but in the summer time just having a thin sheet with the breeze of the fan feels really good.

About a year or two ago I started listening to a bedtime story (usually one of the same two familiar ones) on my iPod Touch when I go to bed (I play it from the speakers, not earphones, at almost minimum volume). I think it's helpful, though I'm not sure if it's so much a matter of sensory input as of providing my mind a track to run on so it doesn't get caught up in thoughts that keep me awake.

I don't like to have any light when I sleep, though. I have curtains on my windows to reduce the amount of light my room gets when I sleep, and that's still not thorough enough, so I actually also wear an eye cover of the sort used to help people sleep on airplanes. Or, sometimes, I use something else to cover my eyes and keep out the light.

Total darkness (I recommend insulated roller shades behind curtains), and NPR or BBC world service suits me best, but I can fall asleep anywhere if I get tired enough.

The sound of the air conditioner in Summer, the sound of ocean waves or waterfall, etc. sounds in Winter.
2 full "body pillows"
A small 2D looking stuffed dog and a stuffed cat.
2 thick head pillows (I prefer to sleep with my neck held high)

I need quiet, though some level of background noise is good. I am generally hyper aware at all times, even when asleep (I have woken up because of the sounds made by people breaking into my car twice!). Background noise like constant traffic is good, as long as their isn't much odd noises like car doors closing, car horns going off, etc.

I absolutely cannot sleep if I can hear talking, from any source. Something about it, just gets into my head and it is impossible for me to sleep if there is talking. Man I had some arguments with my brother because of that, stupid TV :/

That and I like it to be dark, though light enough I can see around the room. Don't like pitch black darkness.

about the same for me; i cannot stand silence when i'm awake, but trying to sleep requires a total void of any input; light sound and touch, except for the weight of the blanket.

White noise and total darkness. Any LED lights or ticking clocks have to turned to face away from me or muffled under a cushion.

Yeah. The prescription for me staying awake all night is to go into a dark, quiet bedroom at bedtime. First I need some televsion programming devoid of social value and some reading about something completely unrelated to my everyday life in order to feel sleepy, and then I need some light and noise to fall asleep because, well, better my light and noise than somebody else's. I use colored light bulbs and a fan or the radio tuned to the static between stations. I'd love to fall asleep to a radio station, but in my experience, they all get loud and talky at 5 AM, waking me up. Heavy bedclothes would be nice too, but in the Florida summer it just isn't practical, and I have to spend a good month each year teaching myself to sleep with just a sheet as a cover.

Weighted blanket and tv on as a kid. I used to pull the blanket up over my nose too. Still do. I even pull my shirt collars up over my nose still - not sure why. Maybe it's stim?

I used to listen to an ambient radio station at night to get to sleep and moved up to CD's after we removed the tv from the bedroom. I have an awful time getting to sleep in pure silence. Every small sound is amplified and annoying. We have a fan that makes our wind chimes tinkle - works well when it warms up becasue I'm still under the comforter - for the weight and it gets mighty hot under there.

I have a very heavy weight but fairly cool all cottom blanket that works well in summertime. It breathes so I don't overheat as easily but its still heavy enough to be comfortable.
