Is PDD-NOS more or less severe than autistic disorder or AS?

In detail, please describe the differences between each. I am dx Asperger's Disorder but I meet the criteria for autistic disorder which would mean HFA since I have above average IQ. And where does PDD-NOS fit in to all of this I am so confused!

Pretty soon all of these will be merged into one so the issue is fairly moot.

The different diagnoses says nothing of the severity. One may have AS and have symptoms that are more serious than someone diagnosed with autism and vice versa.

As I understand it:
AS=autism without the language delays
PDD-NOS=a catch all diagnosis when the doctor sees autism but the symptoms are atypical or the doctor is worried about being wrong.

I agree however I have seen PDD-NOS be referred to as "more severe" than AS and AS be referred to as the "mildest form of autism," which I disagree with. It's just very confusing.

Pddnos can mean anything so it means pretty much nothing.

as was said before in a year all of this will be moot but classic autistic disorder is assosiated with problems with speech.a delay in language or no language.aspergers means problems with motor and body clumbsyness and ppd nos can be any potential developmental disability that cant fit into a technical dx

Asperger Syndrome= High Functioning Autism.
My counselor told me this. That is why I changed my signature to Aspie/HFA. :)
