Since I was 8 years old, I have been nocturnal. Unless I am sick, drunk, or have been up all night I am never tired before midnight. And if I have to get up before 11AM or so, I am miserable all day. What I'm curious about is if this is an Aspie thing. So, what's your normal sleep schedule? Are you a morning or night person?

If it wasn't for other commitments, I'd be nocturnal myself.
I don't like to get up before about 9:30am, and haven't gone to bed before midnight once this year so far.

My sleep cycle seems to be happiest if I am sleeping between 1am and 9.30am. I have never liked early morning awakening and it was once suggested to me I should get up earlier and take a nap in the afternoon if I felt exhausted but that would make me feel quite spaced out I think.
I can't doze off unless I am in bed, I can't power nap and I have never shared the enjoyment others have of sunbathing.

I am also nocturnal. I get my main energy boost around 8 pm. I'd happily stay up until 2 or 3 am, and then sleep until noon or after. Unfortunatly with a small child that doesn't work, lol.

My sleep cycle has no cycle. Lately I've been napping in the evenings and staying up late, and getting really sleepy in midmorning. By next I should be able to stay up in the evenings, and I'll start getting sleepy in the early morning and midafternoon. It's so annoying and inconvenient.

Well my sleep schedule was aways a bit off, i can sleep only at 4:00 to 5:00 am, there's so much peace at night.... or maybe it is just my fascination with the night sky...

I'm a natural early-bird. I wake up at 5:00AM or 6:00AM at the latest, regardless of what time I went to bed. I also wake up very hungry and thirst, so I can't just lie there and hope to get some "awake rest". I get up and eat immediately. The problem is that I prefer to go to bed at 10:00PM, but sometimes I can't, and that causes lack of sleep since I can't sleep past sunrise, basically. (Nothing to do with light or the sun shining; it's a built-in body alarm clock, if you will).

i'm not really nocturnal; more of a twilight person; the actual moments of sunrise and sundown are when i'm happiest; so from, say, 5-10 am and 8-11 pm.

my sleep cycle though; is worse; i seem to be on a 26-hour rythm instead of the worlds 24-hour one; making me flip my waking once a month...

One of the few benefits of being unemployed is that my nocturnal habits don't have many consequences. I sleep typically from 5AM to 9AM, but not by choice. I'm in bed trying to sleep by 3AM, and lay in bed resting until noon or so.

My sleep schedule is get into bed between about half 10 or 11 o'clock, watch a DVD or video, then go to sleep afterwards, which is usually between half 11 and 12 o'clock. So, generally, about 12 o'clock is the time I go to sleep. I drop off to sleep pretty quick, depending on what I've done during the day. If I got up early that morning (anywhere before half 9), or done a lot of walking about, or spent a lot of time in a crowded area*, or had a lot of dairy food, I tend to be able to sleep better at night.

*being in crowded places make me tired, because I'm using up all my energy trying not to show how anxious I am of people.

I tend to be a natural night person. I would say my preferred bedtime would be 4:30am. Also I like to sleep between 7 and 10 hours.

I've done lots of work doing deliveries and would often drive at night. I really enjoy cruising through a city at 3am when things quiet down.
