I'm not saying that I do believe in it, but I can't say for sure that I don't either. I've had some experiences throughout my life that make me wonder. Also, there is just too much about the human brain that we do not understand.

Last time I visited my hometown to see my parents, my dad and I got into a conversation about it. We made the alarming discovery that when we get a bad feeling about something, we can smell bacon (like frying in a pan), even though it's nowhere near us. We said it at the same time even, lol. I think there is a term for associating smells with clairvoyant activities but I can't remember the name.

Anyway, has anyone else had similar experiences?

I can sometimes tell things about people - like when I see someone I know who is sick or really upset they appear to be shorter than usual . . .
But I don't know if ESP and that sort of thing is something someone can just DO - I think it is something that happens sometimes, but not something that a person could control . . . maybe some sort of primal stress reaction or something . . .

I believe what people call ESP is just a skilled sensory perception. "Smelling trouble" may be a trigger for memory of bacon. Our bodies tell us things that our consciousness filters out. NT's filter out a lot of stuff and when a sensory organ becomes sensitive, it's very awkward for them. Things that autistics have to do deal with 24/7, NT's will go berserk. So, it stands to reason that when their bodies sense things accutely, it's disturbing to them and they call it something else.
Temple Grandin talks about so-called "Animal ESP" and how it's a myth.

I would call it perception without the aid of sensors.

I think the reason it's so mysterious is that people are unaware to the extent that emotions play in their lives. Like reading body language. You're just paying attention to your emotions.

I think the reason a lot of people "don't have it" is that they are very familar with their emotions, or ignore their emotions.

I suspect the "bacon smell" may be related to synesthesia. And this may be that our vocabulary lacks to words to really describe feelings.

As for the distance factor, I believe that your brain had all of the facts already. It just puts it together at the right moment.
