I was noticing a pattern among avatars in neurotypical and autistic circles, online. It seemed that a large percentage of neurotypicals had animal avatars, while many aspies have pictures of objects, drawings or fictional characters. So, could this be used as a piece of evidence for the NT case in my Asperger's trial that'll conclude sometime by the end of next year?

Also, on the topic of semiotics, would the language pattern that I use be more typical of aspies or neurotypicals? Like, for example, I begun this sentence using the word "Like" and I begun one of the sentences above with the word "So". So, is that a neurotypical language pattern? Or is that more of an aspie language pattern because that could be considered "Stereotypical language usage"?

I like to pick things that have to do with my obsessions/special intrests for my avatar. I also try to pick something that says something about how I feel about most things. "OMGWTF" is pretty much how I feel about anything to do with other people. Since Tails the fox/kitsune is my newest special intrest, this one just fit.

I wouldn't make it Exhibit A in the trial, no.

That's interesting. A lot of the autistic people I know have cats as avatars. There was a time when I used pictures of one of my cats as an avatar as well. I do prefer fictional characters as avatars, but that preference could change.

As for semiotics, it's like I use like a lot when I talk. you know? So, I don't really think it's like indicative of anything. That is something I picked up from other people, like most of my attempts at casual speech.

I want the world to see how I look without using an actual picture of myself. I also want the world to know what I like.

I hang out in anime, comic and fiction writing circles so everyone there has fictional characters as avatars...

I usually use something I think is amusing or reflects my interests.

Right now it's an old comic book character Dr. Solar: Man of the Atom. I always found him interesting for some reason. Also he represents Science Fiction and Outer Space to me which I also find interesting. Also that he's sort of like Doctor Manhattan and views the world differently.

Now my avatar is both a fictional character and an animal. Where is your god now?

Miss Kitty Fantastico, from Buffy. She was Willow and Tara's kitten in the fourth season and mysteriously disappeared after either the fourth or fifth seasons. I think they wrote it off as "an accident with a loaded crossbow" which makes me very sad.

I need to find a better Anya icon, I was getting tired of the image I was using.

I have a male kitty that looks just like that. And, thanks to that show and my husbands fascination with it - it lent my daughter her name.

Your daughter is named Buffy?

Buffy actually warped the way I talk. It all started when I read every script for the first five seasons, and after that watching the entire series over and over again.

My daughters name is Willow! If she was a boy he'd be named Zander... I wouldn't have caved to Dad's shallow reasonings but I did have personal justifications - a bit deeper than a tv show - for choosing that name for her. In accordance with our vast and varied cultural backgrounds, her name is Willow Rhiannon. English/Welsh were the only backgrounds we contributed in common.

I don't the choice of avatar is indicative of the approximate location on the AS/NT boundary line.
