So my obsession is dogs and dog training, my mom says I need to "branch out" and try new things. But the problem is, is that dogs well they are my obsession as in the only thing I think about all day every day. I'm not good at any thing else. I have played sports and tried to play an interments and I'm no good at it and don't really like it that much. All I want do to is train and compete with dogs. When I was younger I had my own dog that was a pure bred show dog. She won alot of ribbons and things like that. I loved it! But my mom thinks now I need to "branch out" but I really don't want to! Do any one elses parents think they need to "branch out"??? Or is it just my parents that say that?? :?:

Well, you mom can just shut up, because she should be glad you have an interest that you love so much. I know for a fact that your interest can change. You don't need to "branch out" if you don't want to.

It sounds to me like your parents are just trying to make you more normal. Your interests will not ever change based on your mom's will. She will eventually have to realize that.

Not my parents, but my psychiatrist. I remember a conversation way back, when I was talking about studying my specialist interest at university, and how I was scared I'd get bored because I already know university-level content.
His words were something like "Well, there's more to life than pharmacology. It's going to be a good time to discover that."
"I wish there wasn't more to life than pharmacology..."
"I think you still need to try other things."

Honestly, screw it. I know it must be difficult with the misunderstanding with your mother, but you know that dogs make you happy, and why shouldn't you just do what makes you happy? I hope she comes to some understanding.
