I saw one in the paper the other day, here's the exact wording of it:

Dgmf
Lgtrfl
L equals M

What is this???
Why dont newspapers also put instructions for stuff like this, oh yeah, it's the "NT Daily News"

Please Help

Well Chad I never heard of that before but maybe you should read up on it on the internet. Do a google search or any search engine and find it. The more you know the less scary it'll be.

I had never heard about it either, so I looked it up on google.

Apparently each letter is exchanged with a different letter, k's are j's, a's are p's.

It sounds very interesting, but also time consuming. I might give it a go.

That's exactly what it is. It's tough if you don't have a category to work from or some hint about the stuff they've coded (like you get in a Cryptoquiz), but once you get the hang of them, they're fun. Lots of logic and pattern-seeking involved.

I love cryptograms/cryptoquips. I don't get to do them often though. Usually, when they give you a hint, like L=M. Basically it means that every M that you see, you put an L there. Also, you can figure out the one letter words, the three letter words, and the contractions easy. Usually that's where I start. I mostly like doing the lists: like they give you a category and you identify the things that belong in the list. Those are easier than the phrases that are usually in the newspaper.
