the people I grew up with aren't family either. That's why I haven't spoken to them in years. And I do mean, years and YEARS. I don't miss them, and they don't seem to miss me, either

people are too quick to be hateful towards each other nowadays to be families. so, no, not in America anyway.

Answer me to this
How would you feel.
One time i was in a restaurant with my father.Someone in another table said the word 'ret*d'(not for me)and my father heard it and was staring at me and laughing.I mean can you answer me?How would the f would you feel about it?Not only he thought that i am stupid and i was not catching it and not understanding that he was laughing about me but is this a respectful way to treat me?He treated though my cousin, probably his long lost son, with respect though. Was also talking to him.Even though i could act normal and be in general objectively normal. How would you feel?I felt angry.

Yes, loving families do exist.

Have you talked to your father about his opinions and attitudes about your diagnosis? The situation you described could have been interpretted in more than one way. the only wany to know what your fathers intent actually was is to ask. Does your family show you that sort of disrespect often?

Well i am not sure i am disrespect at all.But this forum got me confused and got me thinking that all Aspies have bad experiences in life with other people at least,so i never had good experiences even though i objectively had positive experiences.

Well it is a support forum... people come here looking for support with their difficulties. Some people share their positive achievements too but it is the nature of a support forum to vent your negative feelings.

If you start a positive thread, others may join in...

I have a biological family.

I have a church family.

For what it's worth, I really don't feel like I belong to any group.

The family structure in some societies has really been broken down. We have both parents working, divorce is a common place, and spouses cheating on each other.

There's nothing wrong with both parents working in itself, especially if the financial situation requires it, but I would say that the traditional structure is preferred if possible with the father being the breadwinner and the mother staying home. Ladies, I'm not trying to be "backwards thinking" and deny you education and career experience, I mean, as I said, there are times when both parents should work and so women pursuing higher education makes sense as it opens up job opportunities.
