This has probably been posted before, but for the past two nights it's been really difficult for me to go to sleep and I'm not entirely certain I did go to sleep. I mean, there is a large period of time where I can't remember what happened, but I also don't remember falling asleep or dreaming. Yet I don't feel tired so I'm guessing I slept. This is usually due to the fact my brain can't shut up enough for me to sleep and it eventually starts thinking about sleeping and the inevitability of death and it makes it really hard to sleep. Does anyone have any helpful information to get around this or lessen it?

I've had that happen a few times, where it's like I lay down and wake up without ever remembering falling asleep. I don't see what the problem is though, if you aren't sleeping then you must not be tired enough. Eventually, you will get tired, and you will sleep.

It wouldn't be so bad, but my average bed time is like 2-3 AM and I have to get up around 9 to watch my sister...therein lies the issue

I've had severe insomnia since I was in elementary school and all I've known to help me is medicine. (Even with it all--and it's strong--I still don't fall asleep or stay asleep every night; hence why it's 2:10 AM and I'm still on the computer.) But I've no explicit advice for mild insomnia, because a lot of the remedies are subjective. Perhaps you can look up some techniques or something and do a trial and error; that's what I usually do when I have something mild that's not worth medicine or a doctor's visit. It may be a bit time consuming, but there are many suggestions out there and with a more mild case you're bound to find something. /rambling

That's not so bad, at least you're staying up to watch your sister.

I don't know how I can help since I struggle with it too but just try do something with your day so you don't have too much pent up energy.

It's 2:42AM right now. I'll probably go to bed around 4:30AM or so once I start to get a little bit sleepy. I probably won't fall asleep until around 6AM. I'm going to have to get up at noon tomorrow to go to the community college and see a counselor to sign up for classes. But do I care? Not really. So what if I'm tired tomorrow, that just means I'll sleep good tomorrow night.

True dat, I never thought of it that way really, wow thanks! Come to think of it also, I tend to "oversleep" alot, so I'm sure that isn't helping...Guess I'm just worrying too much!

I have chronic insomnia. I build up a tolerance to the OTC sleep meds & they make me feel hungover so I usually just stay up until I pass out. One thing that helps me often is reading in a warm tub. Of course, you have to avoid falling asleep in there (as I have).
