I think one of my worst problems in school is learning my classmates names. I am always the last to learn anyone's name, and the worst at remembering them. It has led to a lot of embarassment. I don't ignore my classmates, I just fail to pick up on their names. It seems rude to ask, I never see anyone ask. It's like everyone else has a sixth sense for picking up on names.

I'm awful with names. I've forgotten the names of people I've known for years, and I forget my own middle name regularly.

I'm the same way. Unless I see the person everyday for a long time, I won't remember their name. My uncle, for example, I've known him since I little but I only see him once a week. His name is (and I had to ask my Grandma for conformation on this) is Pete and but I thought his name was Hank. (And next time I see him, I'll probably call him Hank because I'll have forgotten that it's Pete.)

I'm horrible with names, and it's important to remember them for my job. I have actually started writing my customer's names down when they tell me what they are. It gives me a reference when I need one and I find that the act of writing something down helps me to remember. This doesn't help much if I am just outside in public- I'd rather not broadcast to people by pulling out a pad and pen and writing down their names that I might be a little weird  Something that might work in reference to your class mates would be to ask your teacher for a class roster and find some feature of the person you can connect with their name.

I am terrible with names myself. I just resign myseof that I will never remember them.

I believe it was FDR (The second President Roosevelt) who would ask someone their name. If they would give their first name, he would say: "Oh, I remembered your first name, I just can't remember your last name." He would do the same if they gave their last name. Personally, I think that is ingenious. :)

I'm bad with names, so I once suggested to the other students that we should just call each other whatever we think of each other as. They didn't like the suggestion. I don't know what they think of each other as, but I was thinking something like "tall skinny guy with long hair who wears a black T-shirt everyday".

I don't even know the names of the people I sat right next to in school.

In highschool I took 4 years of German and my senior year there were a total of 5 of us in the class, there was one girl. Her friend ended up asking me if I wanted to go to prom with the girl in my German class. She asked me using her name and I didn't know who she was talking about.

I have a few tricks for getting people's names out of them without them realizing I don't know theirs. Sometimes I will just try to introduce someone else to the person be like "Oh this is my friend XYZ" and then they will shake hands and the other person will say their name. The other thing I do is ask for their phone number to put in my phone and then ask how they spell their name... this can back fire when their name is like Bob or something.

I'm also bad with names. It took me three weeks to learn the names of everybody who was in my college programme. I can remember faces a lot better.

I'm terrible with names, and tend to forget everyone's names the moment they tell me.
It literally takes me months to remember them.

I'm horrible with names and horrible with remembering people's faces--but I'm better at the latter. Someone at work told me to break someone and I said: "Who's that?" Haha! Honestly, I have to look at everyone's name tag because I always feel like I'm saying it wrong, etc. I'm so bad at it.

I can only remember faces if I talk to you face-to-face AND if I had a deep thought concerning you or there was an incident involving you. Otherwise, I won't recognize you. I remember when I was in school, I kept seeing this girl and could not figure out why she looked familiar. The last day of class I turned around and realized she has been sitting behind me the entire semester! I'm so in my own world that I don't notice people around me

Which is why my ex told me I should probably invest in some pepper spray.

I'm also bad at remembering names. On of the factors people find me weird or worse, ignorant towards them. I just can't help it, indeed. I don't remember faces well either, but still better at it. I tend to forget names or simply miss to catch them the moment they say it. I'm not so good at coping techniques, I'd rather don't speak to them, for in some cases I've felt really embarrassed when I mistook a name of someone. :(

At my current workplace I've sweated blood to learn names and faces for the first couple of months, still, I've got some remarks...

I'm terrible with names and can instantly forget what I've been told. But, if I purposely study them, I'm much better than most. I knew all of my colleagues' names, amounting to around 200, and I know all of my daughter's classmates' names (32), because I studied her class photo for 1/2 hour. If I try to remember a name (which I know I know, but just can't get at it), I go through the alphabet. If 'A' doesn't trigger anything, I know instantly that neither first name nor surname starts with an 'A' and so on. I usually manage to get their name by doing this. Is this a common way for others to remember? My NT husband has no system, if he can't remember, he just can't remember.

I do it sometimes, not only with names of persons, but everything that bears a name, geographic places, names of species, etc. However, my memory isn't a good one...

It's weird, but I only struggle to remember names that begin with a c. My friend Cassidy was really offended until I told her about my AS.
