What is the link between epilepsy & autism?

Why is it that people with an ASD seem to be more likely 2 develope seizures? Like, how r the 2 disorders related? Why is it that they come together? Can epilepsy cause autism? Etc

I have ASD but I've never had an epileptic seizure in my life. But I know 2 different people with epilepsy, and they both have some social issues too, which are linked to their personality, like an Autistic person.
But I don't know how or why.

I do recall reading that there really is a connection. (As opposed to something that seems to be the case but isn't.) But I don't believe I've ever read an explanation.
