What types of places do you go? How do you get there? Can you go alone or do you need assistance?

I can typically go anywhere. It doesn't mean I'm comfortable everywhere and I usually just stick to myself or who ever I'm with.

My usually modes of transportation are walking. It's it too far, I need to be there at a certain time, or stuff needs to be transported, I have a family member drive or a Uber.

It depends on what I'm doing. But even when I'm alone, I'm typically in constant contact with family while doing said thing.

If it's something like going to the bookstore/library or the cinema, I don't need anyone. Except maybe to get me there :)

Normally, I go to the gym where I do martial arts, the grocery store that I shop at, and the thrift shop.
Gym early in the morning. Then thrift shop and grocery store. All done with that by noon at the latest.
Walk, bike, or drive.
Those are the only places I would normally go.
I might go anywhere else I have to, but it takes some preparation beforehand and some decompression time afterward.

Places I usually go are ones I'm used to (obviously since there's the word "usually") and I don't need assistance with those. Places like few grocery stores, the local library, my work place and a few restaurants (mostly fast food and not often for financial reasons.) I go to work with a bus, but other than that I mostly just walk.

I grew up in a military service family, so I'm quite comfortable with traveling. As a kid I grew up in Ghana, Thailand, and El Salvador. As an adult, I have also lived and worked in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. All told, I've spent 17 years abroad.

I've literally traveled around the world 12 times. Living abroad gave me the opportunity to travel into neighboring countries ... and travelling back home to the states has also given me the opportunity to stop in various countries along the way.

I've walked along the shore of the Dead Sea in Jordan. I've at tea on the bonny banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland. I've ridden a train across the River Kwai in Thailand. I've used a machete to hack my way through jungle brush while exploring Mayan ruins in El Salvador. This sounds more impressive than it really was because this lasted all of 3 minutes before I got tired and handed the machete back to our local guide.

I've had some really grand adventures.

Now that I own a home and have cats, I'm pretty much tied to my home. My travelling days (aside from short work related overnight trips) are pretty much over.

most notably i went to europe by myself when i was 19. it was great fun and not scary at all. it was the first time i had left the continent.

i usually go:

downtown to wander around and peoplewatch

the car wash, because i take james may-tier care of my car's finish inside and out

to various art supply stores to buy painting, drawing and sculpting materials

to the library to rent movies and books

to various little hangout spots around town where i relax and sometimes swing on swings which i like to do

more recently i've been going to my musician friend's house a lot where we smoke weed, play video games and sometimes fiddle around with musical equipment and synths. sometimes we go to a music studio a few blocks away to do the same.

i've been spending some time these past few months with a girl i've known for a third of my life, and last week we went on a trip to several towns in the north county where we visited places of interest, had pretzels, looked at stuff, talked a LOT and basically had a grand time with lots of pictures taken.

it probably goes without saying that i don't need assistance to do these things, all i need is myself really.

i drive, bike and walk. sometimes fly but that requires planning.

Anywhere I could afford and where the public are allowed to go into. I have no issues with crowds, noise, and whatever pollutes the streets.

Preferably alone and in secret, risky as it is. And likely not raining even if I could.

I usually wander off randomly on foot, if not explore the city limits as long as I have the time and energy for it. Where I usually go are malls, bazaars, some tightly builded village full of squatters, and somewhere where there's a lot of space and a very few people going there.
:( There are no natural landmarks in my city for me to go to. Not a single lake, not one forest to look at with, and no highlands near enough to climb to. Unless you wanna count tall buildings, short bridges, and huge canals as an alternative...

I go alone anywhere as long as I don't have to drive. When I was a female living in Chicago, like the OP, I walked to the lake and the grocery store at least weekly, took the Metra to my library job in the north suburbs, and rode the CTA into the city to go to the Art Institute and Millenium Park.

I don't go anywhere on my own, unless I've been there before. I have to know the road, where to park, etc. If I am unfamiliar with the place, my husband and I drive together once or twice. Especially the parking is critical. If I can't find a parking space, I will turn around and drive straight home. The same when there is a road block. I turn around and drive home.

I do not go to places. Exccept for the groggery store or work if im not to down. Sometimes i will starve because im to frightened to go out. I have care but they only come visite once a week. Id like to go out onto nice places like a lake, river or wood where it is quiet and just nature. I feel better if someone acompanys me if i go somewhere so i do have some savety net if i get overwhelmed but there is none.

going places scares me. I have very traumatic bus experiences and even walking experiences, where I found myself at a weird highway or a scary neighborhood. I once was able to take a plane from Pittsburgh to Phoenix Arizona without any assistance. Now I am terrified of planes, I really want to move to New Zealand but I have never done something like that before. It is very scary and wish there was some sort of guidance or support at airports for disabled people. Like how to print out plane tickets and where to go and to make sure I don't miss a plane, how to pick up my luggage when I get to New Zealand. It's all so scary.

When I go places, it is always with a purpose. If I need to go somewhere, I will manage. I do not have anyone to take me places or help me (all family are in a different city), so I just walk and bus alone. This makes me slightly nervous (especially since I am new in this city, and don't know my way around); before I go anywhere I check the directions very thoroughly (including bus numbers etc.).

I have taken domestic flights alone, but found that the airport is less unnerving than being out in the city (I guess because it is pretty safe, and there is not much chance of getting completely lost).

Crowds, lights, loud noise etc. bother me, but I have learnt to hide it and cope until I get home (thanks to slightly abusive discipline from my parents).

I went to Michigan to deliver a job I'd done. I didn't get paid, so a friend took me to Indianapolis for a few weeks, and then loaned me the money for a ticket home. We enjoyed the visit, and I helped out there. She drove me to Chicago, where I stocked up on groceries for a train to Seattle. A mouse enjoyed my crumbs. So, I have walked under the el, a rare experience. My travels not including your city would take days to write, but I have 100,000 km on my bicycle, which was my main vehicle for much of my life.
Currently, I will usually only travel if I can combine errands, and very seldom for a purely social reason.

I can go pretty much everywhere but I don't. I mostly go out when I really need it. This can be a trip to the grocery store or the city center. Once a week I go to another city (40 min away) for lessons.

I struggle with my own yard and neighborhood, but I can easily go to a completely unfamiliar place.

After about ten years in one place, I'm so unhappy with the changes around me, and I have so many places to avoid that I usually move someplace fresh to me.
