Quite often on here people mention that they look young for their age.

At the weekend I went to see a film.

I was asked for ID to prove my age.

I am 38.

The film was a 15 certificate (only people aged 15 or over allowed, meaning they weren't sure that I was 15).

I was with my husband at the time ... perhaps they thought he was my dad?!

Is this some kind of record?!? They knocked 24 years off my age....

Might be.
If I shave completely and trim and dress right, I have been told I could easily be mistaken for late teens. Let's say 16-17. Not as much of a record as you, but still 18 years off the clocks.

You win. I don't get ID'd at bars half the time and I'm 24

But what if it turned out you actually are 15, and your experiences reaching 38 were all an illusion?

I won't win here either, but last time on the annual bicycle tour I participate in regularly 10 years was "knocked off" my age by a girl who could easily be regarded 10 years younger as well... :)

Tough question. Birth certificate?

When I was 22 someone thought I was under 12 and asked for ID for a 12 DVD!

I don't think a birth certificate would hold much significance if you realized the past 23 years had been an illusion.

I have had that happen to me countless times. At 22, I was often mistaken for a 13 year old. At 35, I was still getting carded. Even now, I still get mistaken for nearly 15 years younger than I really am. I've often been complimented about my skin, but not sure what people are complimenting, exactly.

At 30, I am constantly mistaken for 18.

It happens to me often. I'm 44, and I got ID'd for 18 within the past month! I love it, since most men my age would be thrilled if someone mistook them for 35. Most people say I look 25 or so. I could put a quick stop to this, if I wanted to... I have a white beard if I let it grow 8O

I'm 16, and I often get mistaken for an 11 or 12 year old. I don't wear make-up, I think it makes people look kind of silly to tell you the truth, and I'm embarrassed of my legs, so I only wear long shorts, and I have sensory issues with scratchy clothes, so I don't wear them. I also HATE high heels and flip-flops. So, I could see how someone could mistake someone for a 12 year old.

I'm 24. I've heard from more than one person that I look like I'm about 18 or 19.

Am I the only one who gets mistaken for the wrong age in the other direction? When I was 14, people have asked me if I could do things that required me to be eighteen, like chaperoning a kid on a roller coaster or signing up for a credit card. When I was 18, I went to a slightly fancy restaurant with a friend for lunch, and not only did the waiter not card us for anything, but he offered us the wine menu (which we turned down because we couldn't afford any of it, hahaha).

And people 15-20 years older have hit on me in conventions and then been surprised when I said I was still in high school/college. Because I totally looked like I was 35 when I was 18? Only some of those times have been when I was cosplaying older characters (and wearing makeup to "age" my face so I would look the part).

And it has happened at least ten times that people thought I was my mother's younger sister. My mom is almost old enough to be my grandmother, and she only looks about 15-20 years younger than she is. So I'm not even sure how people think I look older when my mom looks so much younger than she is!

I honestly don't understand it, because I don't really dress to age or gender stereotypes. I wear mostly T-shirts and jeans with sandals or sneakers. It's only when I'm cosplaying or it's a holiday/formal event that I wear something significantly different.
