Antihistamines don't make me drowsy. Other kinds of sleeping pills keep me up at night. Alcohol gives me "anti-hangovers," where I wake up feeling like a million bucks, and caffeine affects me hangover-first - I basically get ADD and a bad moodfor 8 hours, then its normal effects kick in. The only thing that I've found that does get me sleepy is the ANTIdepressant Remeron.

And on top of all that, I usually have to take about 5x the standard dose for any of these to affect me in the first place - I've taken doses of up to 1.5 grams of caffeine with no effect at all.

Does anyone else have abnormal reactions to drugs?

I have a very, very, very high tolerance for alcohol. Normally, to get me drunk, I have to take around 15 shots in 2-3 hours. Even so, it will usually wear off within an hour and I will be stone sober again.

At sea level it is even worse (I live at 7000 feet, and the lower air pressure makes it much easier to get drunk). At sea level, I usually don't bather, because it takes so much effort. I have put away 16 beers in an hour at sea level, and not felt a THING from it.

This is not something that has been built up, it has always been this way. I go months at a time without drinking anything, and my tolerance doesn't suffer at all.

Caffiene does not really work on me. I will drink sodas, coffees and teas right before bedtime, and still be ot like a light. Moderate doeses of amphetamines (IE ritalin) work to keep me up, but I have been lead to believe that others would be bouncing off the wall with the same dose.

Painkillers do seem to really knock me on my ass.

Caffene doesn't work for me, I have a coffee, I fall asleep an hour later.

Antahistimines tend to make me jittery and hyper and nervous.

Caffiene can have some extreme effects on me, making me feel very shakey, jumpy, and generally out of control of my brain. A lot of caffiene tends to make me feel like I am less "in my body," which is a rather unpleasant experience. The only caffienated drink I will have is chai, which is fine for me in small doses. Coffee, Mt. Dew, or other highly caffienated/sugared drinks set my mind reeling, rather than just "waking me up" a bit.

Alcohol has never affected my all that much- when I was younger I used to have to drink loads to get drunk. Now if I wanted to I would pretty much stuggle to ge drunk.

Caffeine doeesn't have all that much effect on my either- I always have a cup of coffee right before going to sleep.

I could drink as many espresso's as I wanted before going to bed, it don't keep me awake,- just the opposite, it puts me to sleep. Beer:- I can drink a 24 pack in a vary short time before I even catch a slight buzz,- yet when it comes to stuff like 151 Rum I can drink a 5th in 3 hours and still almost walk a strait line but feel plastered. Pot: its a good stress reliever, too bad its illegal, but its great for relieving one of sex drive when one don't want it. Ritalin: damn stuff makes me speed out and feel aggressive and i like it, I don't like feeling aggressive and enjoying it, somethings wrong with that. cylert: works wonders with me, when my head just cant stop thinking or daydreaming and i cant focus it helps tons, and also gives me that extra boost of energy i need now and then. Respradol: damn stuff kills my thinking too much, makes me feel brain dead. Prozac: does NOTHING to me, even when I am being depressed for only biological reasons, the doctors at one time gave me the strongest dose's possible and it had NO affects. over all most meds work on me normally but I don't like the affects they give me, some drugs do nothing while others kick me in the boo-boo more then what would be normal, as of late though (last several months) I been drying my system up of ALL drugs except caffeine, its an odd feeling after so many years of doctors shoving crap at me to take, not to mention my own self medications I had done.

Prozac - no effect, might as well been sugar pills
Wellbutrin - dizziness, no effect on mood
Klonopin - nothing
Nardil - Caused my bladder to close and I couldn't urinate for twenty-four hours. A hospital trip resulted in a catheter being inserted (violently) to relieve the pressure. Also caused severe back spasms.

Ibuprofen - no effect
Acetaminophen - no effect
Codeine - headache, constipation
Vicodin - nausea

Caffeine - too much will make me very ill. I can have a few cups of tea spread out through the day. Two cups of coffee within a couple hours of each other will make me nauseous for twelve to twenty-four hours.

Alcohol - tolerance depends on the frequency of consumption. These days, my alcohol intake is limited to a couple glasses of wine on a weekend. So my tolerance is quite low at this point and I hope to keep it that way.

I avoid medications like the plague. Even when I’m sick with a cold, I will only use a nasal spray and non-medicated cough drops.

With your alcohol tolerance, is that something that has been built up, or has it always been that way?

When I am with friends, and the intent is to get drunk, they cringe when they see me mix my drinks. I usually do 60-70* whiskey, and then coke, sprite, etc, whatever I am mixing it with in a large glass. I need that much to "keep up" with them.

This is VERY interesting. Folks like us could keep the geneticists of the future busy for YEARS trying to figure out why drugs affect us so abnormally.

Methylphenidate (Ritalin) isn't actually an amphetamine, it's just related to them. Adderall is the good stuff (50% amphet, 50% dextroamphet).

On the contrary, Adderall was VERY bad for me. I went nuts when they had me try it. I went back to Ritalin after we discovered this.

Really, the best drugs anyone's ever given me is Zoloft, followed by Seroquel. Seroquel knocks me out at night and Zoloft helps me to behave myself during the day. Both are wonderful things.

When I lived in Florida, I was on a drug called Remaron for awhile and it made me gain weight. Besides Adderall, that's about the only drug I've taken that had any serious side effects...wait, there was another one I took for awhile that made me confused a lot of the time and I have mercifully forgotten its name.

I actually feel blessed to have taken medicine for my problems for so long because it kept me away from illegal drugs and alcohol. I have never drank alcohol, ever. I despise drinking and smoking, totally. The closest I ever came to "experimenting" with illegal drugs was that a guy I knew and I discussed me trying pot (he had access to it and used it often), but our other friends advised me against it, especially as I was on medication.

If your children's doctors say, "those kids need medication," I advise you to give it to the kids. Some kids out there desperately need medication. The doctors usually know what they are doing and know how to safely controll medication. So many kids would have better lives if they were on medicine. Do not listen to those idiots who say that medication is bad, because it isn't.

Remeron (you misspelled it) made me gain sleep, not weight :)

In the context of Adderall, define "went nuts." Did the Turbo button in your brain get pushed, causing you to jump to lots of weird conclusions about things? Did you take an axe to your bunny, thinking that it was posessed by Satan? Or what?

It has always been that way, unless I mix drinks, when i mix i get drunk Vary fast. I used to hate the taste of any alcohols until I got married, my ex kept biotching at me about my pot smoking so I quit and went to the legal stuff, I still prefer pot over alcohol, but non the less i quit them all now.

As for Ritalin, it acts on me the same as Adderall does, and Wellbutrin does nothing to me. Klonopin just puts me to sleep like a lite sedative,
anything with Codeine in it makes me light headed and I don't like it.
Vicodin knocks me on my boo-boo. almost any amphetamine helps boost my energy and makes me light headed but I most always can take a nap on the stuff when I please, and like i said i dont like feeling lite headed so i tend to avoid speeds. Zoloft worked ok with me, it helped me from being depressed, it does its job.

When I was younger I used to take Ritalin, but now i take Adderall.

The good things about Adderall: gives me more of a 'buffer zone' when dealing with other people, makes me less manic, and helps me focus on things that I need to do.

The bad things about Adderall: it causes a lack of appetite, and it sometimes causes stomach pain.

Caffeine doesn't really do anything to me. Maybe it has something to do with taking medication every day.

Blimey - I feel so left out..... I've never taken any anti-depressants or stimulants of any kind, so I can't comment on their effects on me, obviously.

Coffee makes me feel physically ill when I drink any sort of quantity of it though (more than half a cup), which is a shame because I quite like it.... Tea has no effect on me whatsover though, so its not the caffeine that causes it - very odd....

I also have quite a low alcohol tolerance - 5 pints and I'm well out of it (although I've only ever drunk more than 2 in a single day about 7 or 8 times before). The strange thing is with me that, seemingly unlike almost everybody else, I have total memory recall of when I've been drunk - probably one of the reasons I dislike it so much......

I can't drink much tea for the same reason- it gives me migraine and makes me feel hollow inside. Its not the caffeine cos I can drink loads of coffee and its not the tannin cos I get it with red bush too.
