If this is a mental health professional then she violated doctor/patient confidentiality and you should report her to the appropriate accreditation board.

They don't "get" to do these things unless you don't fight back.

That's what happens. If man made choices for himself, then society wouldn't work properly (or at least that's what a lot of people seem to think).

Counselors aren't allowed to do that. Report her. She violated your privacy. You DO have the right to make choices for yourself--stand up for that! Say as calmly as you can, "Hey, it upset me that you did X" (or a paraphrased version) when people go behind your back. Stick to your guns. People don't get to walk all over you. You deserve better. :)

When you make the report, be sure to include any and all forms of evidence to support your claim. Otherwise, your mental-health professional only has to say "liar" to avoid prosecution - especially if your file already indicates a tendency toward deception, delusion, or exaggeration. Of course, someone will have to review your file, and an independent review board may be convened requiring further review ... and they may make their own recommendations for your treatment, including institutionalization, observation, and evaluation.

Good luck with all that.

How old are you, and who else makes decisions for you and what kind? Do you have a court ordered guardian or conservator?
