Is it just me, or do other Aspie's have a hard time swallowing pills? I'm really awful about it.

I can swallow the plastic coated pills with powder inside, but I have a really hard time if I have to take pills which start dissolving on my tongue. Then again, I rarely take pills even if im unwell (since they don't seem to do anything most of the time).

Same. I hate the ones that don't have the plastic cap, they taste horrible if they don't go down the first time

it's a bit better now that i'm older. i usually get the smallest pill possible and even when it's smaller than the head of a pencil i still sometimes feel like it's lodged in my throat for hours.

I have virtually no gag reflex. Had a lot of trouble with the syrup though.

No problem here. I just use water if I ever take them. I have taken it with yogurt too.

I have had trouble with larger capsules, but that developed over time. Usually I have no issues.

I'm better about it now but when I was younger I couldn't swallow pills at all. Once a doctor got mad at my mother for asking for liquid medication and was saying that if I can swallow food I can swallow pills.

I have been swallowing pills since I was 14. Sometimes they go down easily, sometimes not. I wish all pills were coated in that slippery coating - it would save me a lot of worry (I'm always scared of them getting stuck).

It depends on the pill, if it's something like a large uncoated multivitamin then I often have to psych myself into swallowing it. I tend to do a weird ritual where I tilt my head back and sway back and forth and make elaborate movements with my arms in an effort to get the pill into just the right position and to relax my throat enough so that I don't choke or have it go down at an angle, I really hate when that happens.

Edit: I think the first time my partner noticed me doing this he thought I was having a seizure.

I have a hard time swallowing pills. I have to take two very small pills every day for the rest of my life and I can manage them. I struggle with painkillers and have to break the tablets up. I absolutely cannot cope with vitamin pills, they are huge. I spent most of my childhood battling with my Mum because I refused to take them. Now I have the chewy vitamins for children instead, and I have fizzy vitamin C too.
