A fascinating article by Professor Deevey Bishop asks researchers to own up to using diagnositic criteria which are not as objective or coherent as they claim. She also argues for more AS to become involved in the formulation of diagnostic criteria.

Yep if that's what you want to do it could be done.

However think through the consequences of destroying this construct and related policy very carefully.

Above the researchers are another loosley knit, more powerful social and economic group. They exert a pressure and a determining force on our lives. Do you think one motive those researching us might have been was to protect us from these (evolutionary) pressures through their actions? Of course it was a mixture of self interest and compassion, but ask the question what the balance was.

Perhaps their models in one way could be considered some of necessary 'white lies'of social and medical care , just as all religions and belief systems have white lies that protect vulnerable groups.

Think about it.

Sounds to me more like the mess of already shredded pieces are slowly being assembled. At least by a few people.

High time!

I don't think DSM should list Asperger's as a disease, but then this forum wouldn't exist.
