The work forum seems to mostly get folk like myself who are seeking/ struggling to find work, and/or considering career options. We consider all kinds of careers: Mathematics, programming, AutoCAD, building trades, etc.

Seems to me though, there's a lot to actual careers that we might stereotype or totally misunderstand before we ever get anywhere near them. Consider landscape architecture. I think of it in terms of drawing. But expect there's more to it, including an understanding of soil types, business, garden hardware, etc.

So, if at all possible, I'd like as many WP folk who have work in any field to visit the +++ Work and finding a Job Forum +++ with a view to answering any questions in a thread I'll start for this purpose, pertaining to helping some of us to better understand the requirements and realities of certain careers.

Thanks for your help and hope to see you there.

I don't see the thread you are targetting but I can clear up landscaping here if you want :P
I made an attempt at it for a while, and still do minor jobs.

Unfortunately (though plants are still a passion, as is landscape planning) I cannot do much of the actual labour involved due to my physical health issues. I was also piss poor at hunting for new, and maintaining contact with past, clients. They would have been great sources of ongoing maintenance work and income.

Followed my passion, but my body defied my brain.

If it's of any interest to anybody, I've been an Anglican/Episcopal parish priest for 34 years - not a natural Aspie occupation, which is probably why I'm being retired early!

I'm also an experienced Myers Briggs practitioner, so can offer some insights from the 'personality type' angle if anybody would find this useful.

Thankyou both. Excellent feedback.

The link to the actual thread on the work forum is here: The Thread

I'm looking at the Landscape Architecture side of things due to a meshing of a liking for art, being outside, and a desire for an income. But I guess growing older needs to be factored in.

Anglican priest. Cool job. Was an altar boy myself... then three years of bible college. M-B. I did my test If memory serves, got INFP, though needs to be cross referenced against specific AS traits.
