Does anyone else mime nearly all the time?

I know that this happens to NT people occasionally but I do this all the time and was wondering if it relates to aspergers. I tend to use very little words only when needed. For example when I want a glass of water I will mime the action of a glass, the twisting of a tap, the pouring action and the drinking action. This method of communication works very well with some people that know me well but I've been told it is very hard to understand me even in everyday "conversation" because I do a lot of miming things out.

I have AS and never really noticed doing that. I do move my hands a lot when I talk, but that's probably just 'cause I'm italian :P

Yes, I just point or nod to things. I'm so poor at getting words out and expressing myself that it's just easier that way.

I mime only when I'm having word-finding difficulties, which is occasionally.

I mime when I can't find the word, or they don't know what it is. :P People usually then don't get what I'm trying to mime.

I never mime. One of things during the ADOS test that I had to do was show (ie. mime) and tell how to wash my face and also how to brush my teeth. I was unable to mime the actions. I don't know if this added or took away from my autism score, but I do know I well surpassed the cutoffs for autistic disorder. I do use some gestures when I cannot verbalize what I want, but they tend to be rather ambiguous (not like a mime at all), and people who know me can usually figure out what I mean because they know me.
