My 18 yr old son has Asperger's and graduated in June from HS. He has no friends anymore in our neighborhood. He moved out right after graduation into a friend's house, lived there for 2 months and then my son and his friend rented a house. My son's dad payed the deposit and rent to get the place.. My son got a job at Mc'Donald's doing custodial work but that only lasted a month. He said he got laid off that they hired too many people. This was his first job that he has ever had. There are three people who live at the house and only one has a job. My son figured that at 18 everything becomes easy , getting jobs, moving away from home etc. So far it's been anything but that. I tried to tell him that for many years before he graduated from HS. He doesn't want to go to college and really isn't listening to anyone. Sounds like a typical 18 yr old in some ways but he never makes any rational choices. He can move back home if he wants, I would prefer it that way at this point. Anyone going through something like this with their kid?
