Is it just me, but is the skeliton ad with eyes flashing feel too much like strong eye contact??
And the dress up zynky ad with the guy panting like a deranged dog just really disturbing??
I also dont like animation ads peroid cause they are distracting when I am trying to read/write...what about you??

tell me what you think? and vote in the poll even if you wish not to comment
I am going to send results to alex to see if he can remove them if I am not the only one these bother.

Also do you wish to have non-animation ads in the future?

It's either keep the ads and keep WP or lose the ads and lose WP. I would love them gone if possible, but they keep the cost of maintaining the site down.

I understand the need for ads to keep the site going, but I think non-animated ads are a good compromise in everyone's best interest. (and suddenly that sentence doesn't make sense in my head, I hope it makes sense to everyone else)

I dont think it is unreasonable to ask for non-animated ads because of our sensory problems.

Animated ads - especially the ones on this site - are extremely annoying and distracting.

I have adblock, so I don't see them on this computer, but I do occasionally use a second computer which is not mine, and does not have adblock installed.

The adverts are really annoying me at the moment purely because they are animated. I can't focus on what I am reading and writing. That is why my replies have been pretty short today.

Advertising pays for WP to stay up on the web. However Zwinky looks like Japanese anime porn.

I don't see any adds.

Lots of software out there that will help, so take your pick.

It is not that easy, Alex can choose which ads are shon through keywords, however Google or Adbrite serve them, and ALex has next to no power over them, if they decide one day to show an animating advert then they will...I have a few sites and have tried for ages to get rid of them because they chase my readers away..

The only alternative is going to someone directly and telling them you have advertising to sell, but there aren't that many people to choose from that would want to be associated with an autism site I don't think.

The one advert that pissed me off the most is that one that tells you "the internet pays me $76 an hour", what utter BS.

The ads are awfully distracting. I would love it if we could just keep non-animated ads. I'm personally okay with the skeleton: it's the smileys which are a nuisance (constant movement and switching colours on a very large scale).

This is also, by the way, why I dislike animated avatars with a vengeance. I think I've seen one or two here. Might it not be best to ban those as well?

When I started seeing a jumping boy on the side of the page and a girl spitting out some sort of pill ion the top, I ad blocked.

I'm using a six year old computer that only has 512 MB of RAM, and some of the video ads use so much memory that everything slows to a crawl. I guess I'm partially to blame for not upgrading, but websites shouldn't be using video ads in the first place. I'm more likely to be drawn to ads that are static or simple animated GIFs while I don't even bother looking at video ads. I couldn't even tell you what they're advertising.

The ad's that move are obnoxious. The skeleton doesn't bother me that much. The Zwinky ad does for some reason. Too much movement and flashing. I'm just trying not to look at it very much, but unfortunately it does draw the eye, as I guess ad's are supposed to do. :?

It's a total fail though. I'm not going to go join Zwinky because I saw an ad here, or for any other reason for that matter.

Non-animated ad's would be better I think.

I have a LOAD of internet marketing friends, some of which are the best in the world and they did a blind study for all types of adverts and the ones that performed by far the worst were those visually noisy ones, because they do not simply make people block them, but they make people navigate away from the site where they are and never return...and the whole point is revenue for the site to keep it running.

The ones that perform the best are those that blend in and you wouldn't even notice were there...

An advert SHOULD NOT make you want to turn it off, as that detracts from the whole experience, I think they should be banned quite frankly lol

I also find those Zwinky ads annoying. I'm not going to join Zwinky for many reasons. Why would I want a Zwinky when I have my avatars? I thought the Zwinky phase died out 3 year ago.
